IF the Cubs make the postseason, can Soto be on the postseason roster? I know he was up early in the year, but didn't come up again until after Aug 31st. I don't know much about that rule.

Apparently he can. Under what I thought were the rules he wouldn't have been (unless the Cubs transfer Pagan to the 60-day DL to allow a position player from the system replace him). However, other posters have mentioned that it is allowable, and posted a link to an article (I believe from a Boston paper) supporting that. The rules apparently changed as a result of the new CBA.

Yes, Soto is eligible for the playoff roster.

At midnight on August 31st, all players on the 25-man roster and the DL (Guzman, Novoa, Pagan, Prior) are eligible for the playoff roster. Any player still on the DL (15-day or 60-day) at the end of the regular season can be replaced on the 25-man playoff roster by another player who was in the system on August 31st at midnight (he can be in the minors and not even on the 40-man roster but he has to be in the system).

Formerly, a player who was replacing a DLed position player had to be a position player and a pitcher had to replace a pitcher but that rule changed this season.
