Not to get ahead of myself since it's only one batter but I really like Ryan Acosta's breaking pitch - especially for a HS draftee who was primarily a shortstop in HS. Boise's lineup:

2B Tony Thomas

CF Jonathan Wyatt

LF Brandon Guyer

C Josh Donaldson

RF Kyler Burke

3B Josh Vitters

DH Mario Mercedes

1B Marc Sawyer

SS Jose Made

P Ryan Acosta

Disappointed that Rosa isn't in the lineup.

Tony Thomas walks, steals second base, takes third on a groundout and scores on a Brandon Guyer sac fly. Boise leads it 1-0 after 1 inning.

Tri-City gets a 2-run HR and leads Boise 2-1 in the middle of the second.

Boise still down 2-1 and it's now the top of the 7th.

Vitters is 1/2 and he had a line single to CF in a great AB where he battled to a 3-2 count.

Argh, Donaldson had a lead off double and then got picked off/caught stealing on an obvious balk that wasn't called. Lame

Still 2-1 Tri-City after 8. Vento is coming in to pitch the top of the 9th for Boise and Boise will have Wyatt, Guyer and Donaldson coming up to bat in the bottom of the 9th.

All hell breaks lose and Boise's season looks to be over with Tri-City up 8-1 going to the bottom of the 9th.

Boise loses 8-1 and don't make the NWL championship.

That means two Cub affiliates tied for division titles but missed out on the playoffs because of tie-breakers. :(

I prefer the major league approach where ties are broken on the field instead of in the rulebook.
