I don't know, I don't think it should come as that much of a surprise. He was a very highly touted prospect. Is it really that uncommon to see a new pitcher come up and dominate (presumably due to the lack of scouting on him)?

I am just glad Hendry and the boys picked up Pawelek in that first round.

 

All things considered, it's so bizarre that Pawelek's done as badly as he has. He was highly-touted and signed at around slot, which is rare for a Boras client, let alone one in HS. It's not like Brownlie, where there was cause for concern due to injuries, since Pawelek had a clean bill of health.

 

Buchholz dropped due to character concerns. I think he was involved in some laptop stealing scandal or something along those lines.
