.157 now.

How big of a sample size do we need until everyone admits there is something wrong?

After going 3-4 today with a run scored and a RBI, are you finally prepared to admit there isn't?

:?: Whether he's in a slump or not isn't really affected by a single game. I don't think Lee looks comfortable out there -- whether it's an injury problem or an effort problem, he doesn't seem as willing to swing the bat, particularly on the outside half of the plate.

Um, did you read his post or just mine? He's not saying Lee's in a slump. He's saying there's something wrong with him, i.e. something more.

That's what I addressed -- he doesn't look right with him. Not necessarily agreeing that he's injured, just that something doesn't look right.

The rest of my comment addressed you: one succesful game isn't proof that a player isn't in a slump, or that he's not 100%. Whether it's an injry, a slump, or nothing, the sample size of yesterday's 3 hits doesn't change too much. In summary, I read both of your posts.

What's the big mystery? It's Sammy-syndrome. The guy almost gets drilled in the head, it spooks him, and ever since them he's swinging wide and standing a bit more off the plate. Maybe he gets over it...maybe he doesn't. I don't see it as anything that can really be "fixed" by anyone else except Lee. Even when he was hitting like he was before the incident with the Padres I still wanted the Cubs to go out and sign more of an impact #3 hitter after the season.

He's just in a bad slump. There are many reasons why guys go into slumps, guys take bad swings, maybe they're spooked a little like MoJo says, whatever -- maybe the home life isn't great, who knows? I don't think it indicates anything more than just that. Maybe I'm wrong, I'll concede that. Just looks like a slump to me, like other players go through.

I guess I'm saying you can't expect Lee to always be incredible, sometimes players take a step back. It happens to everyone. He'll be alright eventually. That said, if it isn't in time to help the playoff race this year, then that would suck.
