I remember going through the scoresheets during Fontenot’s junior year in high school to make sure I had counted it right: He did not strikeout once that season, while hitting 10 home runs.

I remember sharing a breakfast with Theriot in Omaha, Neb., as he told about the sharp, stabbing sensation he would get in his back when he jumped because of a birth defect in on his spine connected to his pelvis.

Very interesting.

Theriot broke up a no-hitter being pitched at Omaha by some Southern Cal pitcher by the name of Mark Prior.

That's awesome!

Aaron Hill eventually took Theriot's place at SS at LSU. Also on that 2000 LSU team were Pittsburgh's Shane Youman, Toronto's Trey Hodges, and Colorado's Brad Hawpe.

That was a pretty good team.
