I was on the road Friday night listening to Vin Scully do the CUBS/Dodgers game. I always enjoy Scully. One of the many things he pointed out during the game was the extreme home / road splits of Cesar Izturis. I haven't paid much attention to H/R splits lately, so this got me to thinking. Taking the team as a whole, the splits are surprisingly similar.........

04/02 - 05/26 AB R H 2B 3B HR TB RBI BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS BABIP
Home 797 108 218 43 5 21 334 103 68 151 0.274 0.334 0.419 0.753 0.315
Road 885 115 238 63 5 21 374 109 75 168 0.269 0.327 0.423 0.750 0.312

When you break it down, player by player, you get some really wild results.......

I noticed that Lee, Ramirez and Soriano were all pretty close, and that didn't surprise me. But after that..... wow !! I realize that there are some pretty small sample sizes here, and that over time a lot of this disparity should disappear, but you've got some definite "homers" and "roadies" here !! In spite of the inherent risk of drawing inferences here, I could sure make a case for sitting Izturis for Theriot and Jones for Pagan come tomorrow. Love to hear your opinions.

Wasnt Murton the other way last year? Better at home than the road.

Theriot starting in Wrigley, DeRossa and Izturis on the road.

Right you are.

Am I the only one who thinks Vin Scully is boring as hell?
