Ryan Shealy went on the DL to accommodate the move.

Do you have a source where it says he's staying for good?

Everything I've read says he'll only stay up until Shealy returns, then they'll make their decision.

He might as well stay up and the Royals should just get used to him and Gordon playing every day together.

Butler will play almost every day at a variety of positions, including left field, designated hitter and first base.

"We wouldn't bring Billy up if it we thought it was a short-term fix," general manager Dayton Moore said. "We are expecting him to do well and perform and get big hits and be able to have good at-bats in RBI situations. We expect him to do well."

Club officials make it clear that Butler will play virtually every day.

“We’re not conceding anything,” Moore said, “but we’re tying to make decisions that are best for us in the long term. And getting our core group of (young) guys up here is important for our long-term success.

He's here to stay.

Went 2-4 today, after a 0-4 day yesterday.

I saw him in person yesterday. One of his outs was a flyball into the rain about 405 feet. The guy is a monster hitter. If he keeps raking like this Gordon is going to feel the pressure.

So, in other words...no.

As good as Gordon is and will surely become, there were plenty of people in the Royals organization and elsewhere in baseball that have been saying for quite some time they think Butler is actually the better hitter. The kid absolutely rakes.

Unlike Gordon though, he has some attitude, there's no doubt about that. He came into town this winter and did a publicity tour. As a AA ballplayer that (at the time) the Royals said would stay there. He was ridiculed for having his own web site, a real self-promoter, but you know what? If you can walk the walk, then have fun and let everyone hear the talky talk. I like him.

I almost want to agree with that. He will have nothing on Gordon's power though. I would gladly take Butler over Murton.

Really I have met him several times and he has nothing but very polite and cool. Huh. Oh and he could be a better hitter than Alex, but Alex will out run and field him all while being a pretty fair hitter.
