Out of curiosity I just looked up Luis Montanez (who is hitting .318/.392/.915 through 13 games) and to my surprise, the Norfolk Tide also have former Cubbie prospects Jason Dubois and Francis Beltran on their roster. I found it interesting so I thought I'd share it with everyone else.

It is not a big secret. The man in charge of the minors for Baltimore used to be in charge for the Cubs. He is giving a number of his projects, who didn't pan out for the Cubs, a new life in the Baltimore system.

I really wonder what happened to the Ice man. After his bullpen work at the end of '04 (? I think) in the bigs I thought he was going to be the best out of Welley, Wuetz and him.

After he was traded to Montreal/Washington and had TJS I thought he was out of baseball completely. He was the most surprising one of all the former Cubs I found.

Whoops, my bad. I don't really recall hearing that nickname for him. Since Beltran was a closer prospect, the nickname sounded more fitting for him.

The nickname stems from his last name: Leicester.

Makes sense I guess, Ice Man just seemed like a more fitting name for a closer.
