Houston Chronicle[/url]"]Astros righthander Jason Jennings has been sent back to Houston to have his right elbow flexor tendon examined by team physicians. If Jennings is down long, the pursuit of Roger Clemens will become even more critical for the Astros, who spoke about the seven-time Cy Young Award winner with Clemens' agent Randy Hendricks recently.

If Clemens opts to play this season, he will play with the Astros, New York Yankees or Boston Red Sox. Despite the recent meeting, Hendricks reiterates that Clemens will not decide until next month.

"We have talked, but there is nothing to report," Hendricks told the Chronicle via e-mail. "Roger will decide what he will do in May."

In the meantime, the Astros must hope Jennings, who will have an MRI exam today, isn't seriously hurt.

"Jason Jennings has been sent back to Houston to have an elbow checked," Astros manager Phil Garner said. "He has a right elbow flexor tendinitis. He will be looked at by our doctors (today).

"He came in (Friday) and said he didn't think he could go. He was very sore."

That would be a pretty big loss for the Astros if Jennings is down for a while. It will be interesting to see how this turns out.

Bet they wish they still had Hirsh about now.

They have this guy named Fernando Nieve in AAA who should've been their 5th starter to start the season. IIRC, he had a pretty dang good spring.
