Kenny Rogers underwent surgery Friday to remove a blood clot from his shoulder and is expected to miss at least three months.

AL-only leaguers need to go pick up Andrew Miller now. Chad Durbin still figures to fill in initially, but Miller was the other pitcher considered and it probably won't be long until he gets a chance. Rogers could be sidelined into July or August. Kip Wells missed 3 1/2 months after a similar surgery last year.

Yeah, I got that from the blurb. :D But, Miller's on about the same track and talent as Verlander, so I just wonder if they'll look and say, "wow, this worked last year" and try again.

 

Of course, they may also be leary because of Verlander, he has been slow to bounce back from last year's career high load. And that's with skipping a few of his starts last year, too.

The tired arm excuse before the season even started seems quite odd to me. I figured he got in a fight and his arm got tired that way, but I guess this makes slightly more sense.

Blood clots are scary things. My dad had one when I was in 5th or 6th grade and could have very realistically lost his arm. Thank god the blood thinners worked and he has full use of it.
