My keeper league draft has begun, and I have the #4 pick overall.

 

Soriano just went #1. Of the big names (free agents, since this is a keeper league), who do you think would be available at #4, and who should I grab?

 

I'm betting Ramirez and Carlos Lee go with the next 2 picks, leaving me probably wanting a pitcher, but not really sure who to gamble on.

 

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

If the next two picks are Ramirez and Carlos Lee, I'd maybe say pick Albert Pujols. I dunno, call me crazy, but I think he might end up being a good one.

If the next two picks are Ramirez and Carlos Lee, I'd maybe say pick Albert Pujols. I dunno, call me crazy, but I think he might end up being a good one.

 

It's only free agents-he can't pick Albert Pujols since somebody already owns him in his keeper league.

 

If you want to make a big gamble, I'd pick Daisuke-none of the pitchers are sure things (Zito or Schmidt are the other two choices) and Daisuke is the youngest with the most potential.

Though, if the original poster wants advice, it would be good to list the players that are being kept by other teams (and your team). It's hard to guess who might be available.

I think he said that the guys available for drafting are free agents from this offseason. I don't really understand how that worked out though.

Since Soriano was a free agent in real baseball he may have been in the keeper league as well. Not all keeper leagues work the same; with some, a team loses the player in the keeper league when the player becomes a free agent in real baseball.

Yes, the rule for this league is when someone goes FA in real life, your team loses that player.

 

I didn't list keepers, because we keep 14 guys, so the only good non-keepers, at least in the first rounds, are FA guys.

 

It's a points league with 16 teams.

 

If #2 or #3 takes a pitcher or someone besides Lee or Ramirez, I'm going with Clee or Aram. Daisuke is probably the best choice if those 2 guys go.

 

Anymore input would be great.

Why was Aram considered a FA, I thought he had to file the paperwork the Monday after he opted out, but was signed before he ever did that.
