"Old-school managers have to adjust, and if they don't they're not very successful," he said. "You have to adjust to today's game, and to today's player. I don't think that old-school managers would have all that much success in today's game."

"I consider myself very contemporary," he said. "I enjoy players. I don't like too many meetings, but I do like communication and I let guys play. I don't really bother people. I like to challenge them, get the best we can out of them.

"But I'm not old-school. With the things that go on in today's game all the time, an old-school manager, he'd be mad all the time, right? He'd have something to complain about. You just accept things, and what's important is how you play on the field and how you conduct yourself when the game starts. Play hard, and play to win.

Huh?

but if history has anything to say about it. . . with seattle it almost happened but never happened. And then with Tampa Bay (results were not good). I think I'll wait and let time prove him right (hopefully) or me wrong.

That's about as good as I could clear it up, sorry. .
