Anybody have an educated guess for the day single-game tickets will go on sale for the Reds? Last year it was the weekend before the Cubs, if that helps jog anyone's memory.

My pappy-in-law is coming down from Chi-town come hell or high water, so I've got to make good on some tix and would prefer the non-eBay cost me much money option that I was forced to use last year.

Right now they have season ticket packages that guarantee opening day, but there's no way I could hit enough games to make it worthwhile.

They offered them a week ahead as part of seven-game packages, similar to the way the Sox used to sell Cubs tickets.

I waited that out and still wound up with six at the general onsale.

I might would do a seven game package. But, do you remember about what weekend it was for general sales last year? I thought it was sometime in February, but someone guessed March.

It was in Feb. if memory serves.

The organization is making noise about big demand for the now-11-game packages, and the fact that no Opening Day tickets may be available for individual sales.

No date for the package sales has been released.

I really doubt that the Reds sell so many season tix and 11-game packages that all 42,000+ seats are gone before single game tickets are released.

If they let ticket package holders buy extra before the general public gets a shot, then it probably will happen.

I live 300 miles from Cincy, and I'll gladly make the drive for opening day, but there's no way I'll buy 11 games and hope to come close to breaking even selling the other 10.

I agree. Perhaps "blowing smoke" would have worked better in this instance.

J.R., you were right. They finally announced on-line the 11 game package option. The first 3 games of the package are the first three games of the year against the Cubs, so I'm probably going to do it this way. If you don't get your opening day tickets from the Reds this way, you enter through reds.com for individual tickets. Instead of the virtual waiting room, you enter sometime during a 24 hour period and then "winners" are drawn at random and notified via e-mail that they have a certain amount of time to buy their tickets.

Sounds too hit or miss for me to mess around with. Me and dad-in-law had to shell out a couple hundred for tickets to last year's opener from ebay. I may as well get 11 games for the same price even if I can't go to all other 8.

Looks like that 11 game package would actually get you a fourth Cubs game in late June as it includes all the promotional fireworks nights. I am about an hour and a half from Cincy. So, I am thinking about picking up a pair of those and actually going to all the games. Any idea how much they will cost. I couldn't find pricing info.

HA! That makes it even better.

"Power Pack" ticket prices range from $92-$257 per ticket package. Online service charges also apply.

Last year, my wife and I ordered tickets fairly late (like in March or something) for a Cubs/Reds game in cincy and we ended up with 2nd row next to the Cubs dugout.

A few years ago, my brother and I bought tickets for a Cubs/Reds game in April and got seats next to the Cubs bullpen. We had a conversation with Zambrano before he warmed up and we also talked to Remlinger.

Cubs/Reds tickets in Cincy aren't very hot selling tickets... but this year it might be different. It was easier for us to get Cubs/Reds tickets and drive from st. louis to cincy than it is for us to get tickets at wrigley or cubs/cards tickets.

From the link in wade's post:

"It's a great package across the board," said Brad Blettner, Reds vice president for business development. "It's not, 'Let's take advantage of Opening Day demand.' It's, 'Let's make sure we put together a package that our consumers want to buy.'"

That's hilarious... Why do the Reds feel the need to lie like that?

That's true for mid-season games. However, the Reds always sell out opening day and they usually do it very quickly.

True, I didn't read the "opening day" part on the first post... my bad!
