After reporting on the plans here, it has now become official: in a joint-venture with MLB the Italian Baseball League is turning professional in 2009 or 2010 in an eight team setup.

 

MLB is apparently also going to fund part of the building costs of a new stadium in Rome with the specific right to shedule MLB games in Rome for the next five years. :shock:

Pretty interesting. How long of a drive is that for you wvcbxl?

 

I know it's nine hours to Geneva (done that trip twice), so I think it would be about thirteen hours to Milan, and about eighteen to Rome, I guess.
