All those numbers does us no good if he can't stay healthy.

We don't need him to stay healthy, we need him to be healthy most of the time. I think in a 5 year deal, you'd get at least 3 semi-full to full seasons out of him. And then 2 of the seasons he's going to miss some games. But that's probably why you can get him for around $14m, when Soriano might get $17-18m.

I just wanted to note this part. If you check the original article expecting around 6/96 max. 96 divded by 6 = 16. Not 17 or 18. Does that look a little more attractive to you?

Oh my, how can you make innocent little smiley face guy do such a thing?

I have powers well beyond what your mind can envision. Do not anger me or you will face my twisted smiley wrath!

I've heard 15 as a start for Soriano and as much as 17/18. Obviously 16 is more attractive than 18, from a team standpoint. But Drew is still the better option, in my mind. Especially if it's "just" 14.

Drew $$ wise right between Lee and Aram. Does he deserve it? What else does have have besides his 20 HR and .390 OBP. I just haven't checked his stats thoroughly. Does he hit alot of doubles or something?

He produces. He produces more than Soriano. I don't know that "deserve" plays much of a role in the baseball salary universe. All I know is Drew is a productive MoFo whom I would love to see in a Cubs uniform and would not blink at paying $14 million (and I'm somebody who always thinks about the fiscal ramifications, if that matters to you).

He hits for average, gets on base, and he slugs. He'd be the best Cubs OF since Sosa in his prime, and it would not take much for him to be the best Cubs hitter, right now.

He hits for power, hits for average, and he draws a lot of walks. His OBP in 04 was 436 and has been over 400 several times. He's a guaranteed 900+ OPS when he's playing.

He has a .900+ career OPS, and he is a good IsoD guy, which means his success is much more sustainable as he gets past his prime years.
