Per the Score, the Cubs are having a press conference tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon at 3:30 CT for the re-signing of Aramis.

Odd. I wonder why they would do that.

Because they plan on having another deal done before then, thus allowing them to have a mega-conference about all the moves.

or because they're trading A-Ram for Jerry Hairston Jr.

Not funny.

Hendry signed Aramis on Sunday, Nov. 12 and the GM meetings in Florida began Monday (the next day). He reportedly stayed in Florida until late Saturday/Sunday. I think they just didn't have time to do it earlier at Wrigley.

Keeping him here was a big signing and I'm all for press conferencing it to show Aramis some love.

The Trib article (also linked in the Soriano thread) says the Soriano press conference will be next week.

What's the over/under on hustle questions?

Am I just a paranoid tinfoil hat wearing wacko who is slightly suspicious at all this, like they're really going to announce his deal fell through or something?

Just let Hendry point out that Aramis made a commitment to the team for a lot less than he could have made on the open market. I'd just stick with that.

Maybe a little bit. :)

The Score will be carrying the 3:30pm press conference live. (link)

I haven't seen anything on a press conference on the cubs.com page.

-Well on their way to a winner, wanted to keep the in house guys they "terribly wanted to keep"

-Aramis made a big decision to come back. JH and ARam have good relationship

-Once ARam signed, it became much easier to sell FA's on Chicago.

-Lee and Aramis are key to the team.

-Age 28-33 is a hitters prime; Aramis is going to become a "great player" over the length of this deal.

-Has gratitude to Aramis for coming back.

Aramis talking now

- Jumped up and down when he heard about Soriano coming here.

- He wanted to sign here and win here. Knows he left a lot of money on the table and doesn't care.

first question is about Soriano

This press conference is stupid. What's the point? To reintroduce the player they all know already and ask him about the new guy?

Yeah, that was kind of tacky.

Aramis saying all the right things.

Terry Boers really hates Ramirez.

Too bad he's the best player on the team.

Boers has been on ARam since 2004 when ARam flipped his bat after a HR.

As soon as they started on the Ramierez and Hendry rants, I closed out the browser. I can't stand those two.

WSCR cut away.

For those watching, does Ramirez really look out of shape?

I didn't think so. He was standing behind a podium the whole time. Was Boers literally there?

Aramis has chubby cheeks. Always has, always will. Maybe Boers was ripping on that.

His face has fattened. I wouldn't worry or expect to see that in ST.
