Orioles shortstop Miguel Tejada could be an offseason target of the Cubs. General manager Jim Hendry pursued Tejada a year ago before Orioles owner Peter Angelos pulled him off the market and could offer a package built around Rich Hill, Mark Prior and shortstop Cesar Izturis, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View

If you believe everything you've read over the last few days, the Cubs could be targeting three-fourths of the league. It will take a creative approach to fit that many players on their 25 or 40-man roster, so needless to say, don't allow yourself to get too excited until one of these rumors becomes something more than a pipe dream of the local Chicago media.

Id agree.. Weve heard every big name in the league pretty much the past 2 weeks..ARod,Soriano,Lee,Zito,Matuzaka,Schmidt,probably 20 other...Id send that package over there for Tejada..Good stats this year, I bet if he was at wrigley he would have his '04 stats back of 34 HR and 150 Rbi's..Tell the Orioles to send us Eric Bedard too...

We were trying to get Tejada with Prior, Hill and Izturis last year? How did the Dodgers feel about us trying to trade one of their players to Baltimore?

No wonder talks broke down.

Obviously that's not what it meant, but it's not what it said either.

Say no to Tejada.

Where did it say that?

My bad, I misread the original quote from Fanball as we offered Izturis last year, rather than "could offer" him this year.

Tejada is a very good player, but I fear that he'll be viewed as a great player in terms of what will be required to get him.

Agreed. I would have no issues with Tejada as a Cub in a more accurate market. But Prior is severely de-valued with the injury risks, and better off in a Cubs uniform, and the Orioles seem to think Tejada is worth twice as much as everyone else thinks he's worth.

With the "rumblings" about him and steroids a couple of months ago, would the price tag even be that steep?

How about Marshall and Moore for Tejada?

Even with steroid rumors that's a gimme. Orioles would never do that.
