Whether or not a higher up at Tribune's son has a housemate has no bearing on the Tribune selling off the Cubs. Why would I be trying to get attention, I can assure you I have better things to do during the day than try and get a message board fired up by posting bogus rumors.

No, you can't assure us of that. That's the nature of anonymous internet postings.

But I'm a 15 year old girl with big boobs looking to experiment.

It's bogus. A top 5 at the Trib. wouldn't even tell their own son with this type of information. When you are that high up you have a responsibility to keep your mouth shut. You don't mix family and business. Espically with this kind of information.

If you don't believe it than take it for what it is worth, all I can do is tell you what I heard from someone with knowledge of the situation. Now if the Cubs get sold sometime before next season, then my source was right, if not then his specualtion was wrong. These things change all the time and it has been well documented that the Tribune wants to sell off all of their non-core assets and go private again. If the Cubs were to be sold the TV rights would go with them meaning that the employess of WGN and Tribune Production would be going with that sale.

Right. And you get to be known as the guy who knows that higher up int he trib. Hey remember mjuedes, he's that guy that knows a trib exec. Look, your words fully expose your intention. You're taking a shot at being right so we can all beleive your this guy with an incredible source.

What you guys are confusing is the speculation part with fact. I never said that the deal was 99.9% completed, I said HE was 99.9% sure the Tribune would spin off the Cubs before the start of the 2007 season. And that is absolutely not true about mixing business and family, my family used to own a business and I know plenty of stuff that the public doesn't know that went on there. The fact that Tribune wants to sell off many parts of their company makes this a very plausible speculation by my source. He has nothing to gain from the sale of the company, he wouldn't be able to sell his stock there are laws against it.

And how many of those people who family "owns" stuff signs up to an internet board to spill the beans on a move to a community he has never even been a part of.

No, that's not exactly true. It's two different assets all together. If they sell the team it doesn't mean that the radio and TV goes with it. Let's face it the Cubs aren't really a major factor for WGN anymore. If anything the new owners would sign a contract with WGN to broadcast games or start their own network ala Yanks, Boston, and Mets...

Thats right because I do know a higher up at the Trib. and I happen to have lived with his son for 4 years now. If you don't believe me on this thats fine, I am simply trying to provide the board with information that I heard from someone. I am not going to be offended if you don't believe me, I would be skeptical too, but I am going to sleep fine tonight I know I am telling the truth whether or not you believe it is up to you

That is not true at all the Cubs and WGN are under contract meaning they would go together, it would have to be part of the package deal if they are sold. This you can look up and find out.

The contract between WGN and the Cubs means they have to be sold as part of a package deal? I doubt that.

Perfectly fine with me, but when they get sold before the season begins I will make a point of calling you out for not beleiveing and you can do the same in return if they are still part of the Tribune by opening day 2007.

Was it a publicly traded company? There's a big difference between divulging behind the scenes info about your privately held business and that of a publicy traded corporation like Tribune.

I just e-mailed my buddy this who is a finianical advisor and follows this closely. I have my doubt also. I'm almost positive WGN TV/Radio plus the Chicago Cubs aren't all-in-package. No way...

The TV rights and the Cubs would go together and since WGN and the Cubs are still under contract that would mean they would go together. The trib. wouldn't hold onto the TV rights of a team they don't have a controlling interest in, that makes no business sense.

So, if a banana company that has a contract to sell its bananas through Wal-Mart is sold, then the new buyer now owns Wal-Mart?

If the rights go through future years, the contract will remain valid.

I'm not saying the Cubs won't be sold. Infact I think it is possible. I'm just saying I don't beleive you. And I still won't beleive you even if the Cubs get sold. Because like I said, these "rumors" about someone knowing someone high up are never true.
