I'm less interested in the exact date, than I am the names that will be gone...Baker for sure, but all the coaches probably too...how about Rothschild? Any chance of Hendry going bye bye? MacPhail? Ok, there's some dreaming going on, but still...that's more important than the date for me.

If it happens, it will happen within a day of the season ending.

It would be so Cublike to retain Dusty and let Aramis walk. #-o

Bold prediction...Larry Rothschild will be our next manager. I have a feeling the reason he stayed with the Cubs this past offseason was because Hendry made the promise that if Baker fails this year that Rothschild will get the shot next year.

The only problem with my theory is that Hendry then could have fired Baker in the middle of the season and put Rothschild in charge.

I would think this would rub a lot of coaching types the wrong way. Larry was the outsider forced on Baker from the start, and he was treated seperately from all other coaches all along. Now he would be the one guy retained despite the fact that the pitching was probably the one thing that most let down Baker?

Did the pitching let down Baker, or did Baker let down the pitching?

Which came first, the butcher or the steak?

I want the training staff gone, too. Let them go cripple some other team.

YOU ARE CORRECT, SIR!

Yeah, with all the pitchers that went down this year, it seems like the coaching AND training staff need to go.

I'm talking about the "baseball people perspective", not my opinion. I stated my opinion before he signed the contract and he did nothing to change my mind.

That would be the "Cub" thing to do. Hire Rothschild as the new manager even though he did absolutely little while being the pitching coach for the Cubs. After the past four seasons, I fail to have read or seen any evidence that he was on a totally different page than Baker regarding how to use pitchers and pitching philosophy. I don't know why a lot of people blame Baker for ruining Wood and Prior without mentioning Rothschild's name, too. Rothschild should go out the door along with Baker.
