By the way, not only can Hendry not get a prospect from Maddux, from one of the deepest farm systems in the league, but he can't even find someone healthy.

That says it all. Was Hendry so loyal to Maddux that he just gave him away?

Were there any truth to reports that the Dodgers were willing to give us Matt Kemp?

I doubt it and I really hope that wasn't true.

Right after the Maddux trade Hendry said the Dodgers had been offering 2 high level prospects. Were those names ever revealed?

No, and according to numerous sources such an offer was never on the table.

What numerous sources were those? Hendry himself went on WGN and said that he was offered 2 high level prospects, and there were also rumors about the Cubs getting a good prospect for Maddux prior to the deal.

if i remember correctly i believe that hendry was asking for 2 high level prospects for maddux but had to settle for izturis because the dodgers woulnd't budge.

Hendry said several times that he turned down an offer that would have gotten him prospects instead. At the same time, media sources said that it was never an option for him.

So he either did something really stupid and turned down prospects (any prospect would have been better than Izturis) or didn't do something really stupid but went out of his way to lie to the media that he did do something really stupid...while somehow convincing some people that it was a good trade.

Take your pick.

Also Bruce confirmed in one of the threads the day after the trade that Hendry went after prospects, and the Dodgers refused him. If anybody really wants to know where, just respond here, and I'll try and find it for you.

So Hendry lied about being offered prospects? Why would he do that?

If what the media reported is correct, it was likely because Hendry thought people would actually be happy/impressed that he turned down a deal for some kids, waited it out, and finally got the Dodgers to crack and give him a former All Star and Gold Glove winner...who just happens to be overpaid, not 100%, and not to be very good.

I could see that. Funny thing is that smart observers are unhappy/unimpressed that prospects may have been turned down. If you are going to tell a lie it may as well be one that makes you look good, not bad.
