In May, the Cubs were 2-18 when Perez played, but they were 5-4 -- they were a winning team! -- when he stayed in the dugout. That is a colossal Neifi Index of .446. To give you some context, the difference between the winning percentages of the best and worst teams in baseball, the New York Yankees and Kansas City Royals, is .227. And Neifi Perez, one guy, made almost twice that difference for the Cubs!

And don't talk to me about small sample size. You don't need large sample sizes to know about the Neifi Effect.

He gone....no need to keep talkin' about him. I wish him the best.

But he still plays baseball, correct?

You sure know how to beat a dead horse. Nefi Perez is no longer a problem of the Chicago Cubs. Don't you think his name has been discussed enough?

Are you gonna provide weekly updates of his performance the rest of his career? If so, please do it in the humor section.

I've got an amazing hint to help you avoid threads that bother you so much, don't read ones with the word "Neifi" in the title. It'll help.

I appreciate the advice.

But it's rather annoying when people keep pounding the fact (by starting new threads) on how poor a baseball player he was (is). We heard it all year.

My suggestion to you is stop your hatred/bitterness of Nefi and move on. It would do us all well to talk about something else.

Ken

P.S. As well, give the man a break. It wasn't his fault that he was given a huge contract and mega playing time. I'm sure if it was you, you would have done the same thing as him (or maybe you would have been above that, announced you sucked, and refused to play or accept any money from the Cubs) Give him some respect now. It's called, having respect for a fellow human being.

While I tire of the Neifi talk, this forum IS called "BASEBALL Discussions."

Under the heading "NORTH SIDE BASEBALL."

Frankly, I don't give two hoots how he's doing in Detroit. Actually, I do. I hope he does well and I wish him the best.

I just wish people would stop ragging on him and just move on. Sometimes it's the bitterness of the fans that makes one sometimes embarrased to be called a Cubs fan.

How about Patterson, Sosa, Grace, Sandberg, Dawson, Ernie, Maddux, etc.? Which former Cubs are we allowed to discuss? It was a baseball-related article regarding a player that was a very popular (granted, for all the wrong reasons) topic of conversation amongst Cubs fans. There's no reason to knock someone for posting a link.

I agree. Lock all non-Cubs threads. In fact, lock any threads dealing with away games since they aren't on the "North Side."

So we can only talk about current Cubs players?

You all are missing the point.....the point is....can't you wish the man well. Do you have to keep pounding his faults even when he's gone????

He's horrible, we're happy he's gone. You're the one missing the point, however. It was a baseball-related story posted in the baseball discussions forum. If you do not like reading about Neifi, do not open threads containing his name.

Baseball Discussions is for discussion of any baseball-related matter (not specifically related to the NL Central or the White Sox). A thread about Neifi's play should be here.

Sure, it's beating a dead horse, but apparently people still want to talk about him. Most people don't have a problem with Neifi the person, just Hendry's contract and Dusty's insistance on playing him.

I just wish people would stop ragging on him and just move on. Sometimes it's the bitterness of the fans that makes one sometimes embarrased to be called a Cubs fan.

Most teams' fans can be like this, not just the Cubs.

No, I'm not missing the point.

I'm happy he's gone too because I want the Cubs to win. But to keep demeaning the man is cruel and frankly, it's not the right thing to do.

Look at yourself in the mirror. I'll bet you all are the type that make fun of people behind their backs, and wouldn't have the guts to talk to them face to face with them.

I came to this thread to make a point.....I could give a flying flip what you think of me coming into this thread. Through all the slam Nefi threads, I have said very little.

At least you all had the humanity to wish Glendon well with his medical condition.

You all have the last word.

Posting his teams' W/L record in games he has played is demeaning and cruel? And not the right thing to do?

It's like you've known me all my life! :)

I don't because then when they DFA him, Fat Hendry will resign him.

I want him to be so awful no one picks up his contract and he never gets a job again.
