It's very early, but Z looks to have excellent stuff and command tonight. He's getting ahead of batters right away, which makes it just about impossible for the hitter.

I don't like how Len points out that Barrett's OBP is at a respectable .375. It is a very respectable number, but his isolated OBP is somewhat average for a player with his numbers as well as his hitting role on the team.

So does Carlos have a serious shot at the NL Cy Young award?

 

If he keeps getting over 6-7 runs a game of support and keeps his ERA in the mid 3's, yes.

 

 

I think if the voters look at the play of the Cubs, who could possibly finish with less than 70 wins and Zambrano wins 18-19 games, they will give him serious consideration. Guess it would be a bright spot in an awful season....
