Well this isn't about the cubs but the Espn Deportes is reporting that the Giants just signed 16 year old dominican Angel Villalona to a 2.1 million dollar signing bonus. I think he's a hitter because they keep comparing him to Adrian Beltre in the story. Apparently this is the seond largest bonus ever given to a dominican prospect. The first being when the Yankees gave Willy Mo Pena 2.3 million. Never knew the yankees had him. If you can read spanish here is the link. I know spanish pretty well I just don't know any baseball terminology. They say that he is 200lbs and is 1.9 meters roughly 6' 2". Has good hands, tremendous ability, etc. But the most interesting this that it says is that the giants didn't have the biggest offer.

This is going to be far from perfect, but I think I can translate pretty well.

He received the second largest bonus in the history of the Dominican Republica, second to the 2.3 million that the Yanks paid Willy Mo in 99.

"This kid has tremendous abilities, he has enormous power, good hands and an arm filled with promise," said Pablo Peguero, chief of scouts of the Giants for Latin America.

In fact, Peguero made comparisons on stars that play in the big leagues today.

"I signed Beltre at 16 years old, Rual Mondesi at the same age and I was close to Vlad and Soriano and none of them had the same conditions of Villalona at his age," affirmed the veteran scout.

Villalona expressed that the Giants weren't the team that offered the most money, but the deal that they offered to him convinced him.

This boy is going to be like Beltre, and in three years I believe he is going to be in the big leagues," maintained Peguero.
