Here is what I'd do.

Just shut Lee down for the rest of the season.

Start working in Murton in at first base.

Call up Pie in Sept and give him some starts in LF.

You get to see a preview of Pie withouth costing Murton some at bats.

If you decide to pursue as a big time LF in free agency then Murton becomes valuable as a LF/1B swing guy.

my 2 cents.

Why not just shut him down for the rest of the season? I mean it's not like we're in the thick of a pennant chase. I really don't like how this organization handles it's players. I know it's him saying he wants to come back but someone should tell him that it serves no purpose for him to come back this season.

Bringing Lee back serves absolutely no purpose. He is neither a young player that demands evaluation for the upcoming season, or a player vital to a playoff chase. Let him sit.

If he's healthy and there are no players competing for that spot next season, what does it hurt to let him play? If you sit him, you may as well sit Barrett, Ramirez, Zambrano, etc.

None of those players broke their wrist, something that directly affects how fast you can swing a bat and in turn your mechanics. Besides, we have 3 1B on the roster in Nevin, Mabry, and Lee. I just don't understand why you'd let him play one more meaningless month.

5 years from now, Lee will still be somebody who broke his wrist. If he is healthy, it's stupid to not let him play.

It's not meaningless...he needs to play at least some of the time to help work his wrist back to being in fighting shape. Sitting around not playing and only having batting practice and tossing the ball around is not the same as actually stepping up for a real game. I'd understand giving him some minor league starts first or giving him every other or third game off or something along those lines, but totally shutting him down makes zero sense. It's not like he's a pitcher.

I'd figure the minors would be less stressful, both physically and mentally, and might allow him to help work his wrist back to full strength than just diving into the majors right away.

Why would the team possibly need him ASAP at this point?

I don't think you can really work your wrist back to full strength by going to the minors. Rehab starts would be a good idea to see if he's ready to help the team yet or not, but it makes no difference to his health if he's playing in the majors or the minors right now.

The team doesn't need him, and it would be incredibly foolish to even consider something like rushing him back.

The only advantage I can see is that if he played at Daytona he could DH.

I don't think playing at Daytona is any different than playing at MLB level. My point is that broken bones take time to heal, and when you just dropped 60M on a player you should be careful with said investment, especially when you have no shot to make the postseason.

But when is he going to get the playing time needed to get back into the swing of things, pun intended? Sitting him and having him do nothing except practice can be adverse, too.
