If there's a glut of starters and concern for the bullpen, why not piggyback some starters? Heck, if Guzman and Marshall are health concerns, wouldn't it make sense to tag team them in order to reduce their workload and give them much-needed experience all at once?

Exactly. My understanding is that Marshall hasn't been throwing at all since his injury. If true, he'll need to be eased back once he returns, anyway (and he should be pitched cautiously given his workload already this season).

 

If starts are an issue for Z -- because Z is a maniac and wants to go full-tilt for the Cy Young (and the wildcard, of course) -- then juggle the rotation to let Z pitch every 5th day. I say that with some trepidation about his usage already, but I would try to accomodate his wishes because keeping Z happy is good and making Z angry is bad.
