The Cubs have gotten worse every year since 2003. He lost control of the clubhouse at the end of '04. Players are starting to speak out in the media about his favoritism for "his boys".

This team is the worst fundimentally I think I've ever seen. You know it's sad when you can go down to a local park and see a bunch of 8 year olds who are more fundimentally sound than a major-league team.

Dusty wants to be "one of the boys" and therefore does not make the difficult decisions. He does not punish poor play, and therefore allows it to continue.

Dusty needs to go. Yes, we'd probably be bad with or without him, but we'd be nowhere near as bad without him.

Maybe I'm hard headed but to me there is no way anybody can justify Baker still being manager of this team, no way.

At least, maybe Neifi won't be playing as much if Dusty's gone.

It was a longshot, but this team could have made a run if Hendry fired Dusty earlier in the year. Florida did it with McKeon and Houston did it with Garner, and neither of those teams had exceptional talent. But no, Hendry waited and waited, and now its no doubt too late for the Cubs to have any chance at all.

I agree. There is enough talent on this team to go to the post season. The manager can not stand in the batters box for his players, but he can damn sure promote the attitude, atmosphere, and enviornment that gets the most out of an offense. He can also insure splinters for those that refuse to do whatever's necessary to get on base. And it's absolutely the managers job to get in the face of those who are dogging it or are simply complacent using the "we're injured, what do you expect" rap.

Dusty Baker provides nothing more than a live body to fill out the line-up card - abominate that chore on most occasions - and is the worst baseball tactician currently managing a major league team. If he had an ounce of dignity he would quit but he's too stupid to know how bad he is.

Other than that - he's probably a real nice guy to go fishing with and should be given that opportunity - daily.

I cannot and will not accept hoping the Cubs lose so someone can lose their job. I have yet to hear of a viable replacement that will do anything with the team on the field.

How about a replacement that would prefer to give Guzman a start over rusch. Or Murton starts over nevin? Or a replacement that would ask JH to bring Hill up to make starts? To start building for next year?

Dusty would NEVER do that. He has some preconcieved notion that starting crappy veterans is "giving them the best chance to win". "Gotta respect that other team dude, and put your best team on the feild". . Our best team right now would be with Murton in LF, Theriot at 2B, and Guzman and Hill starting. .
