The SL determined the coaching staffs of the ASG by selecting the staff of the host Montgomery Biscuits to coach the staff of the Southern Division and the staff of the previous year's Northern Division Champions to coach the Northern Division. With that being said, Pat Listach will be Managing the Northern Division! Joining Pat will be Jaxx Pitching Coach Mike Anderson, Jaxx Hitting Coach Tom Beyers and Jaxx Trainer Matt Johnson.

 

The 2006 Southern League All-Star Game will be at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery, Alabama, on July 10.

Thanks Ron! Congratulations to all of the Jaxx All-Stars, all EIGHT of them!

 

Seveirville, TN (June 27th)- This afternoon the Southern League announced the North Division roster for the 2006 Southern League All-Star game. The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx lead the way with a division high eight players named to the squad.

 

Pitchers Rocky Cherry, Juan Mateo, J.R. Mathes and Chris Shaver have been named to the All-Star squad as well as outfielders Nic Jackson and Chris Walker and infielders Eric Patterson and Scott Moore.

 

Cherry has compiled a 4-1 record with one save and a 1.58 ERA in twenty-four appearances, all out of the bullpen. Cherry is considered one of the best relief pitchers in the Southern League.

 

Mateo is 4-3 with a 2.33 ERA in eleven starts (twelve appearances overall). Mateo is one of three Diamond Jaxx starting pitchers on the All-Star team.

 

Mathes is currently 7-4 with a 2.97 ERA in sixteen starts. His seven wins are good for third best in the league. He is tied for first in shutouts (1) and tied for third in complete games (1).

 

Shaver is 4-4 with a 2.37 ERA in fourteen starts. His ERA is third best in the league.

 

Jackson is currently hitting .314 with three homers and twenty-seven RBI's in fifty-three games played. He is currently fourth in the league in hitting.

 

In seventy-four games played, Walker is hitting .291 with a homer and twenty-three RBI's. Walker is second in the league with twenty-four stolen bases, third in the league with eighty-four hits and tied for second in the league with six triples.

 

Patterson, who was named the BC Powder Hitter of the Week yesterday, is hitting .296 with five homers and thirty-one RBI's in seventy-six games played. He is tenth in the league in hitting (.296), tied for third in the league with twenty-three stolen bases, fourth in the league with eighty-one hits and tied for second in the league with six triples.

 

Moore is currently batting .271 with twelve homers and forty RBI's in seventy-two games played. He is tied for third in the league with twelve homers and tied for third in the league with thirty-one extra base hits.

 

Three other Diamond Jaxx players were named to the All-Star team but are unable to participate due to a promotion. They are pitchers Carlos Marmol, Clay Rapada and Randy Wells.

 

The Southern League All-Star Game will be played on July 10th at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery, AL.

Miguel Negron is an all-star! Miguel takes the place of Aaron Herr, who was promoted to AAA Louisville.
