With Bynum, Pierre, Womack and Neifi on the roster, Dusty has exactly what he has been bitching for for a couple of years--speed. Its a tired observation, I know, but its one that only three people in existence don't comprehend is a failing formula by itself. Speed is nice, when not coupled with mediocrity by way of talent at the other four tools.

The Cubs just suck. Say it aloud, its theraputic.

My name is Dusty and I'm a speedaholic. Opps....you have to recognize you have a problem first and Dusty and Mr. J. Hendry do not recognize it in any way. I think we need an intervention.

I think you meant oops, not opps. opps is to close to ops and dusty definitely doesnt know what that is.

:D You may have figured it out. They think OPS is actually OPPS!

Yes, I'd go along with the tired observation part. Can we just place the bold sentence in the body of a 10 Commandments of NSBB that Bruce Miles can point to as the essence of what we'd collectively change if we had the power??

For the record, I don't want Cedeno in the 2 spot either. Walker and Murton should be batting 1/2.

I'd bat Murton 2nd or 6th right now. I'd put the lineup together as follows:

Walker

Murton

Jones

Nevin

Ramirez

Barrett

Cedeno

Pierre

The Sad thing is, who knows where we'd be if Dusty REALLY tinkered with the line-up until he found something. Probably alot better than 13 under .500. Who knows, with Pierre in the 8 slot maybe that would have releived some pressure and he wouldn't be in such a bad funk that he is now.

I know he is hard to watch but for those who think Neifi is fast, I dont think you are watching closely. I am guessing he wouldnt beat Murton in a race. Hes not slow but certainly not in the same speed category as bynum, Pierre and the real underrated burner Cedeno.

I did say it aloud, "The cubs just suck". And you are right, it helps...but only a little. Reminds me of the beginning of Major League, "Who are these **ckin guys?" So bad...it's funny.

I lustily booed Neifi at every at bat when I went to the game on Tuesday. The surrounding fans were confused.

I have found that joe baseballfan thinks that neifi is good. Even joe cubfan thinks neifi is good.

I have no idea why or how or what is wrong with these people.

If used properly, Neifi would be a great 25th man / late inning defensive sub / $400,000 salaried player.

"Unfortunately, he's off to a good start. After being benched in favor of Todd Walker early on, Perez found himself in the Cubs' starting lineup for the first time Friday. He responded by going 3-for-4 with a double against the Reds, and afterward told reporters:

It was a lucky day. Any time I get three hits it's a lucky game. I'm not a great hitter.

I've yet to come across an official list of the biggest understatements in the history of mankind, but I've got to think that would crack the top five. Hypothetically, I believe it would rank just slightly ahead of me telling someone, "I think Jessica Alba is kind of cute," and just slightly behind the person replying, "Your chances of dating her are pretty slim." He wouldn't be a great anything. He'd be an acceptable 25th man if he was cheap and used properly, but none of those is a possibility on the Cubs.

Casual fans hear the leader talk about Neifi saving them, and they get swayed by the one or two big hits, which stick in their memory.

Remember back in February when everyone posted their lineups for the season and pretended Neifi would never play?

Yeah.

Neifi will always play. Nothing can stop him, not ever!

I bet Dal that the Cubs would start Perez 140 times this year. I think I'm going to lose but I think Neifi will be close to 140 played though.

Hey Cuse, I believe the bet was barring injuries Perez wouldn't play in 140 games. I still think had Lee not gotten hurt, he wouldn't have been used nearly as often. Then again, Hendry should've gotten Nevin or any other replacement far sooner than when he did to see that wouldn't happen. We already knew for some stupid reason Baker saw a lot of value in Perez. With Hendry throwing darn near a blank check at Neifi, I don't think Hendry minds seeing Perez playing.

Did I give you the no injury thing in the bet? I must have been drinking the same stuff Hendry was when he signed Perez.

"Barring injury" is a terrible thing to put in any sports related bet. Injuries are part of the game, and still no excuse to play Neifi.

Please, give me some credit. That's the only way I was sure that Neifi wouldn't play in 140 games. Come on, I guess I'm the only one with absolutely no confidence in Hendry. Even he wouldn't sign someone for $5 million without the hope of him playing a lot. That's Walker's problem, he was rumored to be dealt because his average and OBP are about 80 points to high. Should he drop significantly in those two categories, he's sure to get a nice raise.

I'm confused, how does your lack of confidence in Hendry have anything to do with predicting Neifi's starts?
