Mark Prior (shoulder) is scheduled to return from the disabled list to start Sunday's game against Detroit.

Prior struck out 10 during a Triple-A game on Tuesday and was throwing around 92 mph. ''My stuff is fine, good enough to compete at this level,'' Prior said. He will be limited to around 90 pitches in his first outing, but he should be activated in nearly all leagues.

Hopefully it just means Marshall's getting pushed back a day and Rusch is getting taken out of the rotation, but knowing the Cubs, they'll probably send Marmol down or something equally as stupid.

after marmol's performance in his first start, i have to think that guzman will be the one sent down.

 

what will be the 40-man move to bring prior back, though? he's on the 60 day DL, meaning someone's got to be removed. rusch? maybe he's being given the start on friday to pitch for his job one last time?

IMO, He has had enough chances. Although if he starts performing like he did in 04, I would have no problem with him staying in the rotation. I really thought I was gonna like the guy after last year, but his stats pulled a " John Kerry" (6-2 to 2-6 *total flip-flop*)

don't get me wrong, i think rusch has had way too many chances. i'm just trying to think of who could possibly be taken off the 40-man when prior is activated on sunday.

 

and now that i check, pagan is on the 15-day DL still. because of that, i expect that he'll be transferred to the 60-day, making room for prior to return.

 

oh well, wishful thinking regarding a rusch DFA....
