So when Wood (ha!) and Prior are back in the rotation, who do you send to the bullpen, Marmol or Marshall?

My first thought was to split Prior and Wood in the rotation so each of them take the fifth spot and pitch every ten days, then we could leave both rooks in and not hurt the old dude's arms [/sarcasm]

My second thought is to send Marshall. I know he's going to shatter his career high in innings pitched this year, so lightening his workload makes sense to me.

Of course leave Marmol the wonder kid in the rotation. Obviously since he has had one good start coming from AA, we have to keep in the rotation as long as possible. There is no chance that once advanced scouting reports come out that hitters won't hit him.

Marshall does not suck, its obvious that he has the stuff and the makeup to be a solid major league starter. But he has thrown just about as many innings as he has in any one season in his career.

Once Marmol gets lit up 1-2 times, it will be obvious that neither should remain in the rotation eventually.

Marshall seems to have more trouble the second time around the lineup, so he might work in relief. I agree that we haven't seen enough of Marmol to make any decisions.

Neither. Send Marmol back down and let him continue to get starts. While you're at it, send Guzman down and free Micheal Weurtz.

I'd actually think about shutting down Marshall at the 120 or 150 IP mark, as he's never pitched more than 100 IP in a year in the minors. Move Marmol to the rotation, keep things light on Marshall by shutting him down or giving him light bullpen work. Bring Marshall back to the rotation next year, and with Marmol's performance deciding his role with the team next year.
