No , you can just keep irrationally blaming some for the cubs woes, while giving others a free pass. Coach L

That's getting old. Who is getting a free pass? I believe Walker and Barrett are about the only ones I have not said anything negative about. If you want me to start ripping on them, so be it. Until then, stop trying to put words in others' mouths.

I've already erected a 10 foot shrine to Jacque in my back yard. During his hot streak, I've been sacraficing any small animals I can find in the neighborhood to it....you are all welcome.

Marmol. What kind of stupid name is that? He should be demoted or deported or hanged or something.

I've been pretty consistent. I blame MacPhail, Hendry and Baker. And the standings don't exactly disagree with me.

The Pittsburgh Pirates (yes, THE pittsburgh pirates) have won 1 less game than the Cubs.

If Jacque Jones hit 52 homers and drove in 400 RBI this week, it wouldn't change the fact that past performance did not dictate giving a mediocre OFer a 3 year deal to play in what should be one of the most offensively productive spots in the field. Period!

Do I have a personal grudge against Jacque Jones? Absolutely not. Do others on this site have a personal grudge against Jacque Jones? Who cares? I hope Jacque Jones becomes the greatest baseball player that ever lived. It's NOT Jacque Jones that people have an issue with (unless he continues running bases like Moises Alou and goes back to hitting like Neifi Perez). It's the guy who gave him a 3 year deal that people have issues with.

And the Cubs establishment of their 95m payroll in 5th place in the standings really doesn't make people want to get excited about Jacque Jones. Though I do wish him continued success.

What's the difference? If he is playing this well, I think we should mark it as a solid signing for Hendry. Jones was part of a very mediocre free agent outfielder class this year, so he was going to get paid. Be thankful we didn't get Encarnacion or Wilson instead.

So if he doesn't produce in the last 2 years of his contract, is it still a solid signing? He's playing this well now...and that's great. But many of us don't expect that to continue over a 3 year period. That makes it not a solid signing.

Jacque Jones pees in the team's water cooler.

What we all don't know, however, is they ask him to do it. Just so they can hopefully have some of his stupendous greatness permeate their unworthy bodies.

His urine makes everyone tougher. Moises could only make himself tougher.

Actually I would have had either Encarnacion or Wilson for a one year deal than three years of Jones at the amount they are paying him. The only way this turns out to be a good move by Hendry is if Jacque keeps this play up for 3 years or if Hendry can turn around and rid himself of the contract and get some talent in return.

I agree that Jones' contract was excessive, but in light of his performance, I am glad we have him and not Encarnacion and Wilson, both of whom are playing far below where they should be (particulalrly Wilson, who has that freakin' Little League-style park and LF wall to dump cans of corn in 50% of the time).

And the only thing as annoying as the "you all hate Jones; eat crow" stuff are the sophmoric counters. If you don't wish to encourage that sort of thing, I would suggest not fighting fire with fire.

The only thing more annoying than sophomoric counters to annoying "you all hate Jones; eat crow" comments are the annoying people who annoyingly decide to tell others what to type.
