Nobody is suggesting he should be benched for Neifi, just that he is playing worse than Neifi did last year.

So far, Cedeno's OPS is a bit higher than Neifi!'s was last year. Plus Cedeno is 23 and Neifi! is, well, old. I think I'd rather have Macias back than Neifi! I like the weak swings better than the swinging bunts.

Yeah, a tiny bit higher and worse D, but I like him too. I'm just saying, playing worse than Neifi, he's hit rock bottom. He can only get better from this point.

Except that's not true. Neifi had a sub .300 OBP. Cedeno now is better than Neifi last year.

What about the non-OBP things.

The bothersome part is that Ronny has 31 Ks to 7 BBs. That's exactly the same line as Jones.

Except that Ronny is 23 and Jones is 31. Hopefully he develops more patience. And that line is still better than Neifi!'s 18 walks in 572 ABs last year.

I think we can all agree that having these three folks in the lineup at the same time without Lee and with an eternally slumping Pierre is not helping the cause at all.

I noticed that he managed to take a shot at Murton in the same breath that he whines about us not having any OBP. What a total fool. LF has been the least of the Cubs' problems so far this year, especially with the recent power surge by Matt over the last four or five games. We can surely fix our OBP problems by trading for Soriano (.347 OBP) and putting Murton (.363 OBP) on the bench. Great strategy, moran.

First off - it's moron not moran. Second, while I like the idea of a Murton/Jones platoon for as long as Jones is around for many reasons, having Murton as a full-time OF is definitely part of the overall problem. Sub-.800 OPS corner OFs are not helpful, OBP be-darned. Do you realize how little difference there is between a .363 and .347 OBP? While Soriano may have trouble staying around .350 OBP, I'd take that extra 200 SLUG% points for on less time on base per 60 PAs anyday, aslong as the Trib will suck up the salary without shortchanging elsewhere.

That said, the real answer is still Miguel Cabrera, if Hendry wants to truly salvage anything out of 2006, whether they make a playoff run or not.

It is bothersome. Ronny is still questionable as to whether or not he'll make for a solid option at SS for years to come. His patience, and the team he's on don't help. But he's already better than Neifi.

moran is an inside joke.

If Neifi was putting up Cedeno's exact same numbers/defense and getting paid the league min., people would be up in arms. Cendeno is not having a good season, even for a rookie of his minor league experience and history.

If Neifi was putting up Cedeno's numbers they'd represent a career year.

Neifi put up the same line last year with much better defense, actually.

In what fantasy world? He had a sub .300 OBP.

Just about the same OPS....and better D. I hope Cedeno improves his game more, but it is a fact that Neifi Perez in 2005 was the better player if you are looking strictly at the stats so far.

I disagree that Nefti's season in 2005 was "better" then Cedeno is having in 2006. I would say...at worst...that the seasons are comparable. But the fact you keep ignoring, is that Cedeno is 23 YEARS OLD, and Nefti is 32 YEARS OLD. Cedeno's line is acceptable in relation to his age. Nefti's is not acceptable. In other words...Cedeno has a chance to improve in time, Nefti cannot improve, cause he doesn't have the skills.
