What was concluded about the Hill/Dunn talk?

If Hendry did feel that way, I'd imagine it says more about his thoughts about Dunn and the offense than about Hill.

this was never a potential trade. it was bruce saying that hendry valued hill so highly that he probably wouldn't have traded him straight up for dunn last year.

It's very telling, too. Because Hill was Hendry's "prized prospect" and he's absolute junk.

....and Marshall was known only to those who follow our minor league system closely, yet he is far and away the better hurler.

That's because Hill was far and away closer to the Major Leagues level-wise than Marshall. BA ranked Marshall 7th in the system prior to '05, Hill 24th(of note: Hill broke out during '05). Prior to this year, Hill was 5th and Marshall was 6th, and that was with Hill having the best season of his life, and Marshall having his cut short with injury. Essentially you have it backwards. Marshall was always well thought of as a prospect, while Hill needed an All-World season to cement his status as a good prospect.

It really is distressing that Hill was held in such high regard for so long by the people that control the fate of this team. I'm fully expecting Felix Pie to not only be a terrible ball player in the majors, but probably also a serial killer based on how badly this team's handlers misjudges the up and coming prospects.. Didn't Hendry say over the winter that when he talked trades.everyone wanted Hill and Pie? Hill had great stats last year at AAA but he was also 25 years old.

We really should just trade all of our top prospects, even if just for other prospects. We've tried holding onto them too long, calling them up and finding out they suck and have no value. I'm really sick of that. Hill and Guzman alone could have brought us a very good young major league player at one point.
