In this particular league the scoring for hitters is AVG, OBP, R, HR, RBI, and SB.

So anyway, I have Joe Mauer behind the plate. He's not a bad hitter by any means, but most of his doubles power simply doesn't show up in this league. His AVG and OBP should be pretty good though, but the lackluster lineup he's in wont afford him a lot of R or RBI.

And Josh Willingham is sitting there on the waiver wire, just begging to be picked up. He should get a ton of playing time between catcher and left (he'll almost certainly end up with more PA's than Mauer). He's got pretty good HR power and good OBP, but his AVG can't stay this high. That said, he should be batting behind Jeremy Hermida and Miguel Cabrera for most of the year, so his RBI opportunities should be pretty nice, even if he wont get knocked in a lot due to the people behind him.

Normally this wouldn't be much of an issue for me. I'd pick up Willingham and trade Mauer for whatever value I could get for him. Unfortunately, this is just a six team league, so nobody else is really in need of a catcher badly enough they'd give me an upgrade anywhere.

Would you drop Mauer for Willingham?

Yeah, I decided to go way over the top and make some deals instead.

All in all I gave up:

Mauer

Harden

Bonds

Tejada

Loretta

For:

Willingham

Johan Santana

Beckett

Peralta

Utley

Yay for wheeling and dealing!
