I saw that Ronny made 2 errors today, but I wasn't able to watch the game so I don't know how bad his D looked. I was listening to Pat and Ron, and both were very impressed with his play at SS. Were the 2 errors bad hops, or were they flat out bad plays?

They were bad plays. He also got lucky on another call in the Reds series that should have been an error. I hope these are just rookie mistakes because it looks like he can really rake. He's supposed to be good on D too.

The second error was a bad throw, on the home plate side of first. Replay looked like Lee held the bag to make an amazing play, but they ruled he pulled. I don't remember the first error off hand.

The other one was where he was running scooped up the ball in his glove then dropped it when trying to pull it out with his throwing hand.

He'd have 4-5 errors so far if the scorers weren't so nice. A ton of people here made fun of Dusty when he said Cedeno's throws "tail into the runner." It looks like he is right from what I've seen. Maybe Dusty isn't as stupid as everyone here thinks he is.

It looks like Ronnie is a bit nervous out there. He didn't look very sure of himself when he went to field that one he dropped during the exchange. I could almost feel the error coming before it happened with the way he ran up to it. I'm not worried about him...Lee will save him a lot of errors as the season goes on and he learns to play major league shortstop everyday.

Yeah, if he turns into a Jose Valentine type defensive SS, we need to move him to second even if it means trading Walker. I really hope it doesn't come to that.

Ronny is only 23 I believe, I'll give him awhile before I pass any judgement.

No he's pretty stupid, though, he might be right about Ronny's throw tailing.

a lot of throws tail when you throw them running to your left.

Ronny has been double clutching alot of throws and looks pretty shaky overall defensively. He does show some great range though and hopefully it is just rookie jitters.

Huh? He had one charitable scoring ruling in the Maddux game. I don't know how that - along with the two errors today - translate into 4-5 errors.

Yes, Cedeno has been a bit shaky so far. Even some of his succesful plays haven't been very smooth. On the other hand, last year he appeared in 29 games at SS and only committed one error. I suspect he'll get more comfortable as the season progresses.
