As for Wood:

he'll continue his rehab while the rest of the team heads north to start the regular season.

*sigh*

I know he's progressing and all that. But its so depressing...Cant we have one healthy season out of prior and wood...

Blame the idiots running our team for that one. Not that this dead horse needs to be beaten down anymore.

Contention. Last year. Right.

I will never forgive them for that.

I can't really understand why a team's fanbase can "never forgive" a team for doing all it can to make the playoffs in a given year. Especially when doctors said Woody couldn't hurt his arm any further by pitching down the stretch. Even though it was unlikely, at least they didn't just give up ala the Sox of 97 or whenever that was.

Your kidding, right?

It was painfully obvious we were out of contention at that point, last year. And so what if Woods arm couldn't be hurt "any further?" The fact was he needed surgery. Why not shut him down as soon as they found that out. The sooner he has surgery, the sooner he's throwing again. It was a stupid move, by a stupid organization.

Furthermore if they were doing "all they could to make the playoffs," Jose Macias wouldn't have been on the team. Neifi wouldn't have been the starting Shortstop, There wouldn't have been a question this off season as to walkers return, and they would have at least TRIED to get Brian Giles. This team is under totally incoherent direction.

Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood threw his second batting practice session on Wednesday, not Friday as earlier reported. Wood threw two sets of 20 pitches and his next session will likely be three sets to get him up to 60 pitches.

Cubs pitching coach Larry Rothschild said Wood will be re-evaluated at that time, and see how close he is to pitching in a game. The Cubs have plenty of players in Mesa, Ariz., to keep Wood busy. The good news is the right-hander is cutting down on the recovery time between throwing sessions.

I'm optimistic about Wood this year, but I'd imagine a return won't happen before early May. Either way, it's looking good right now for him.
