Durazo, who played for Mexico in the World Baseball Classic, was 5-for-23 this spring for the Rangers. He is coming off Tommy John elbow surgery, and is not yet ready to play first base. He also had an agreement with the Rangers that he could become a free agent if not placed on the roster by Wednesday.

With Durazo and Pena both being cut loose, there are some options for teams needing a DH/1b this year.

Apparently the Rangers are satisfied with Nevin/Delucci at DH.

Durazo isn't that bad of a player, but he's almost as frail as Wood and Prior put together. The most games he's ever played in a season is 154, but he only averages 89 games a season. As a bench player he'd be pretty good, but he's a liability even at 1b.
