Vince Lloyd DVD, "The Voice of Summer"

I haven't seen any mention of this on the board, but just this year this DVD was released. It's based on an interview of Vince conducted back in 2002 by Tim Sheridan, PA announcer for the Cubs' Spring Training games at Hohokam Park, who also operates a website devoted to the Cubs' Spring Training, Boys of Spring. The DVD primarily involves Vince reminiscing about some of the past Cub players (such as Banks, Jenking, Williams, and Santo) as well as some of the broadcasters (Jack, Harry, and Lou). It's not very fancy (mainly just a camera focused on Vince, with Tim unseen in the background) and I found it a bit distracting with Vince continually trying to light his cigar, but I still found it enjoyable. The DVD can be ordered online using PayPal, or by phone (1-888-CUB-FILM). The cost is $19.95 + $4.50 shipping.

 

Tim is also working on a DVD called Boys of Spring, which will be about the Cubs' Spring Training history in Arizona. This area of his website has information about some of what will be on the DVD. I'm anxiously looking forward to it.

 

Interestingly, I discovered this purely by accident. I'd never heard of this website before, but found it through a Google search a few weeks ago when I was looking for Cubs' Spring Training information before going to a game while vacationing in Arizona.
