Apparently, Gonzalez isn't signing the deal.

Link.

Former two-time American League MVP Juan Gonzalez, who agreed to a minor league contract on Sunday, was a no-show on what was supposed to be his first day at work. The 36-year-old slugger has been limited to only five games over the past two seasons due to back and hamstring injuries.

Speculation was that Gonzalez learned of the Sox’ acquisition of Wily Mo Pena on Monday and determined he had little shot of sticking. He apparently also determined that the Sox didn’t deserve the courtesy of a phone call.

of course you're going to get biased information coming out of boston - his agent may have contacted the team for him.

Boston doesn't have a reason to misrepresent him; he wasn't guaranteed anything. My comment encompassed he and his representatives.

uh, the boston media certainly has a reason to misrepresent him. just like they do with every other player that's ever left the city.

you've got to be kidding me. nice argument.

the boston media is notoriously extremely critical of anyone who decides not to play in the BEST BASEBALL TOWN EVAR. taking anything they say seriously is a big mistake.

Nice argument? All they said was that there was "speculation." No one directly bashed him. My comment stands, if he indeed did not show or call it was not very classy.

ESPN Insider's Rumor Central reports that Juan is missing and his agent can't reach him...

Juan Gone?

Mar 23 - Juan Gonzalez has failed to report to the Red Sox, and his agent, Alan Nero, said he's unaware of Gonzalez's whereabouts, The Boston Globe reports.

"We're all concerned about Juan," Nero told The Globe. "We don't know what's in his head. It's sad. I'm worried about him. But you can't help a client you can't communicate with."

Gonzalez agreed to a minor-league deal with the Red Sox last week.
