He is not worth a roster spot. Any use of Jose Macias is a misuse of funds, at-bats, and playing time. Fontenot would be more useful and much cheaper.

Compare Macias to other team's 25th man and he's not as bad as everyone makes him out to be, but compare him to every other team's 10th position player (the way Baker used him) and he's horrible. I will agree that Hendry's biggest fault is not firing Baker or at least insisting that Baker play certain players.

A lot of teams use that 25th man role on a minimum wage earner out of their own system, or a series of that type of player that can be called up or down, not somebody you trade for, save roster space for multpiple years, overpay and give raises to, and rely on them as often as Macias was used. And I don't believe for a second that Hendry is upset with the way Baker used him. He had the option of cutting ties last offseason and chose not to, knowing full well what Baker would do with him. Hendry likes that kind of useless ballplayer.

Jose Macias is not a major league caliber player. He cannot hit for average, he cannot get on base, he cannot hit for power, and he cannot field well at any of the positions he claims he can defend.

No speed or base stealing either. He is truly a suck of all trades.
