JC Romero dealt to the Angels

Angels acquired LHP J.C. Romero from the Twins for infielder Alexi Casilla.

That's it? Twins GM Terry Ryan should have exercised some patience if this was the best he could do now. Damaso Marte brought a real player in return, and he's owed more money than the $2.45 million Romero is guaranteed. Casilla, 21, hit .325/.392/.409 with 47 steals for low Single-A Cedar Rapids last season, but that only makes him the Angels' sixth- or seventh-best middle-infield prospect. Now don't get me wrong, I think the Erye signing was solid, but dang if Romero was available for this cheap, I would had prefer to go after Romero instead of Erye...Kendrick or Wood would have been out of the question, but the Twins could had easily gotten Erick Aybar, Alberto Callaspo or Maicer Izturis for Romero. And now the Angels get another very good, yet LEFTY reliever to go into that already top level bullpen.

This makes the Eyre signing look terrible in comparison. Some of us speculated Walker was necessary to get Romero. Color me disappointed.

Romero is said to be a clubhouse problem. never got along with Gardenhire...

Well, then Romero wasn't the only one who have a "problem with Gardenhire." If memory serves me well...didn't either Kyle Lohse or Joe Mays have a run-in with Gardenhire?

 

If you are going to trade Romero, don't just dump him, get something of value back. They could had gotten atleast Aybar or Izturis for him.
