Hasn't he had some injury problems? Knee I think. Very good hitter when healthy.

He was hurt but he came back for the second half of the season I believe.

certainly worth looking into. Gammons was on ESPNews last might discussing the Soriano deal, and he expressed concern that Vidro and Soriano are going to make over $18 mil next year alone, and that the Nats would have trouble filling the roster.

Wasn't Washington's main rationale for acquiring Soriano their belief that Vidro's knee injury has put his career in jeopardy?

Just thinking about this while getting lunch. How nice would Vidro Look in front of DLee and Aram behind Pierre. Here is the Logic, you are taking a risk because he is having surgery and may not be back for opening day. However what an upside if it pays off. If Washington would take Patterson straight up for Vidro i'm signing up both teams take a flier and we have the money to take the risk.

He was shut down early to have surgery. I remember that because he was on my fantasy team and messed me up by being hurt so much.

Patterson for Vidro would be worth the risk I think. Then if Walker is traded for Bradley that would be a big improvement in the OBP of this team. Vidro, when healthy, is a very good hitter and we're obviously not going to play Patterson.

EDIT: Nevermind, I didn't know Vidro had opted against surgery and may never play again.

Exactly. The Nats feel as though Vidro will either not play again or never play well enough to be a regular. It doesn't help that he refused to have his knee operated on and then agreed to play in the WBC.
