  1. with a hot stove report..just a heads-up.
  2. Guys Hendry will be on the channel 9 news in a bit. Hot Stove report with Hendry...I will be watching.
  3. Maybe it's just the wording but could this deal be 2/11?
  4. I do want to add that this move reaks Baker. This is a Baker-boy we are signing. I can see Baker whisper in Hendry's ear to pull this move off.
  5. The Cubs won't pick up any more bullpen guys, I'll say that now with confidence. Starters: Wood Prior Z Maddux Rusch Bullpen: Williams Williamson Novoa His Eyreness Dumpster Wuertz Ohman If Williamson is healthy and can get back to his old form I would say the bullpen isnt bad, but if Williamson cant get back to his old self I think the addition of Eyre is negligible.
  6. Agreed and here we have a GM that spends the money acquiring the mid-level talent.
  7. Hendry has no damn clue. I'm starting to question if he has the vision to put a contending team together in 2006. I'm going to hi-jack the thread and say something that I'm sure I've said before among my 17,000 posts. I think Hendry had a plan and a clue when he took over. As much as the 2003 success was exhilirating, I think it (and having Baker as manager) caused Hendry to toss his plan into the crapper and try to turn a mirage (2003 team) into a reality. We've made moves that jeopardized the long term health of this team, and we're still doing it. Not exactly a vote of confidence for the direction of this organization. You bring up a valid point. Bringing Baker here might have been one of the worst mistakes this organization has made in a while.
  8. Maybe Ohman is now possible trade bait. Also, I'm not going to judge this signing until I see how Eyre does in a Cubs uniform. I guess all the "Mr. know it Alls" here know what the market is regarding LOOGY's as FA's. NOT!!!! Give it a chance all you pessimists & overreacter's! Maybe the optmists should give it a rest. Almost 4 mil for a loogy. Yeah! Just because he is left handed doesn't mean he has to be only a LOOGY. Christ, look at his BAA against righties. Very solid. OK, that's fine so would you rather have Eyre or Howry as your setup man?

  10. Yeah, I guess paying for setup men Remlinger, and Hawkins wasnt good enough for him to learn his lesson about paying top dollar for setup men. The man never learns.
  11. Don't be baffled, it happens to others that USED to post here regularly. The funny part is all the name calling and second guessing of Hendry, people still wonder why he won't post here or answer questions on the site. My question to you is, if you were Hendry, would you? You're funny. I could care less if Hendry shows up in here or not. Secondly, nobody is asking for him to come here anyways so who cares. With the job he has been doing he should lock himself in the office and order delivery.
  12. Makes you wonder what in the heck is Rusch and his 3mil going to do now that Eyre has been signed... Well, Hendry seems to love having that "swing" guy. Unless that means he really don't want to rely on Wood staying healthy to have 5 good starters. (not calling Rusch a good starter). If we truly cant rely on Wood which we probably cannot Rusch isn't exactly my top option to take over for Wood.
  13. If that's the case then why sign mid-level talent instead of the top talent?
  14. Maybe Ohman is now expendable/trade bait? If that's the case I hate the signing even more. Sign a 4mil loogy to replace your cheap but decent lefty in the pen.

  17. With the way Hendry is spending the money don't be surprised.
  18. This so far has been an offseason more frustrating than last year. Hendry hasn't got a clue.
  19. I dont care if Levine thinks its a good deal. It's not. Howry sounds good but I'm not so high on Looper.
  20. I still can't believe it. Almost 4 mil for a loogy.
  21. And that 30 mil keeps getting wasted on mediocre to mid-level talent.
  22. I wish I was negoiating with Hendry for my last job. Eyre isn't a terrible signing, but that is a terrible contract for a middle reliver who is 33. After he signed Rusch, and Perez are you surprised? He is going to waste that 30mil signing mediocre-medium talent. Great Job!
  23. well said. This board needs more posters like you. You are absolutley correct. There are some good, knowlegeable & fair posters here, you just have to weed them out. Use your ignore button, it works for me. So the good ones are the ones who like the moves Hendry makes? Don't bother with the optimists. They see no wrong.
  24. OMG 3.6 MIL FOR A LOOGY!! This is downright pathetic. I cant wait to see what the "optimists" say about this..
  25. I like Furcal but in no way does he deserve 10mil and up. He won't get it.
