  1. It just shows you how bad and for how long this organization has been and still is.
  2. Yeah that. been too busy at night time although I did listen to the game on the radio last night. If the Gordon/Hinrich backcourt starts working out I really don't think Pax will trade Gordon. I'm really hoping that it does because Gordon is my favorite Bull right now. I really like the fact that we are building form within and using our draft picks to be more successful. I don't know too much about the NFL draft this year and who is available but I'm assuming getting a C or PF should be a priority.
  3. Even though we beat the Panthers they still pose a very tough matchup for us. They have playoff experience and I truly believe playoff football is a step above regular season football. I just really hope we dont get dominated like we did in 2001.
  4. As long as we don't trade Cedeno for Lugo I'm ok with it. Play Lugo at SS put him in the 2hole and play Cedeno at 2B and place him lower in the batting order.
  5. I think the most compelling reason would be that there is a good chance he was the 4th best OF on the team, and $3m is not outlandish for 4th OF, especially not for a team that guarantees $5m for Neifi Perez. There was also a decent chance he'd be the 3rd best OF, and an outside shot of being the best or second best OF on this years team. That's not saying I expect him to be all that good this year, but the current OF isn't any good, and it wouldn't take much to outproduce some of them, at least. Neifi had a far better year than Corey did. Perhaps. But he still sucked, and he consistently sucks. Corey's off year was an unexpected low. Neifi's crappy season was an expected clunker. The point is if you are willing to pay Neifi $5m, you have to be willing to pay Corey $3m, so money can't be the reason. No, to make it equal you would have to say you are paying Corey $6 million. Maybe Neifi didn't help fantasy teams, but he sure as heck wasn't the main problem the Cubs had. It is entertaining to read people missing Corey after all the bashing he has received on this board for at least 6 months. It is interesting that you make this kind of statement given that you are certainly bright enough to know those comments are coming from different groups of people. It makes me wonder what the purpose of such a statement could be, other than to provoke the person you are addressing. I'm pretty sure with Neifi's bonus money he is indeed making 6mil.
  6. Do you think this is a better move than non-tendering him? Trading him is indeed a better move than non-tendering but he would have been good as a backup OFer especially now that we all know Grissom will be our guy. I must have missed the memo - I didn't know Grissom was going to be our guy? With Hendry and Baker at the helm I got $10 bucks that says Grissom will make the team as a backup OFer.
  7. The key point, no concept of the strike zone and a swing with multiple holes are what did Patterson in and will continue to do so if doesn't learn how to recognize the strike zone. I'm not a fan of the Cubs coaching but, I'd be a fool not think they didn't work with him on pitch recognition. It's possible he may never aquire or learn that skill... I totally agree. I just posted in another thread that I do not blame the coaching staff for his troubles. That falls squarely on his shoulders.
  8. I will be the first in line to state that I can't stand Baker but I will not blame him for Corey's troubles. Corey had his own problems even before Baker came here and I can honestly say Baker and the coaching staff at least attempted to help him out. His lack of discipline and his uppercut swing probably have more to do with his failures over anything else. The organization also offered him to go to winter ball and he declined so was he giving all his effort to correct his problems? Who knows. It would have been nice to have him around as a backup OFer but nothing more unless he really figured it out which I doubt.
  9. Do you think this is a better move than non-tendering him? Trading him is indeed a better move than non-tendering but he would have been good as a backup OFer especially now that we all know Grissom will be our guy.
  10. Corey has the power, speed, and defense what he doesn't have is patience, and a normal swing. The last two are killers and I don't think he could make up for those two. It really sucks that he didn't pan out.
  11. I will say this..trading Corey for a bag of peanuts(which we did) was not the route we should have taken. We could have kept him as a backup OFer instead we will end up with the joke that is Marquis Grissom. Either way I'm not too upset about it.
  12. Soriano's unwillingness to attempt to change positions to me shows that he is a selfish player. Him on the team would not make a significant improvement unless you like the same hot/cold offense we had to deal with the past 3 years. Our offense had been that way because we don't have many guys with good OBP and in that aspect Soriano doesn't help us much. We have enough homers we need more RBIs and OBP if you ask me.
  13. I would HATE to see Soriano here. I would rather have Walker at 2B. Soriano is the typical Hendry guy who has power, speed , low OBP, and a boatload of Ks. No thanks. I don't like his me-first, team-last attitude either.
  14. ANd that's the game right there.
  15. It's part of his culture.
  16. Henry is out for the game. I don't think Palmer is coming back but they are doing an MRI right now.
  17. Kitna is good but he's no Palmer. You lose a starter like that who already is a top QB it's going to hurt.
  18. Yes he is.
  19. Just saw the hit. That's BS! He went right at the knees!
  20. That really sucks. I was rooting for ther Bengals on the AFC side.
  21. I missed it. Was it a clean hit? Wow this really hurts the Bengals.
  22. It helps that Eli keeps forgetting what team he's on. Eli looks like a little kid out there. Terrible game by the Giants.
  23. It's not going to be an easy win. If the Bears win they will have earned it that's for sure.
