  1. IT"S OFFICIAL AT LEAST ACCORDING TO THE BBC. MLS just got it's first major star http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/europe/6248835.stm
  2. It's getting closer http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=399456&cc=3888
  3. It's like Christmas morning all over again :)
  4. That's disappointing, hopefully he's able to move somewhere else by the end of the month. Rumor has it that AC Milan is interested. I'd imagine learning from Nesta and Maldini would be good apprenticeship for the Gooch. Do you think he'd get playing time at AC? I'm not sure that he would get much playing time even off the bench as a sub.
  5. Good for Clint and good for Team USA.
  6. Any Penn State fans wanna do an avatar bet on the game next Monday? If the Vols lose, I'll take a Penn State avvy for a two week period.
  7. I still think Lyon will win the Champions League this year.
  8. It was a very exciting game to listen to on Sirius that's for sure.
  9. LA Galaxy express more interest in Becks http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/6121030.stm Man U and Chelsea close to getting Adu? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/m/man_utd/6131062.stm
  10. I think he'll be an Angel before it's said and done.
  11. If either Klinsmann, Peckerman, or Carlos Queirós (assistant head coach of Man U) don't accept the job, then I'll be severely disappointed and won't expect much in 2010.
  12. Man I hope so :)
  13. I'd say it will be a much better game since it will be on the more quality "pitch" of the two. Chelski's field was in horrid condition. I just hate that Eto is out for Barca. He's such a difference maker. I still think that Lyon is the team to beat in this year's Champions League. They've looked very impressive thus far and I'd love to see a Ligue One team win it all.
  14. It was a crazy game, Cech busted his head in the first few minutes of the match. His replacement Carlo Cudicini, got completely knocked out cold in the 90th. John Terry put the gloves on for the last few minutes of the match. It was like "Any Given Sunday" all over again.
  15. 30 -33 is the prime age for many MLB players. I don't view Soriono as a Beltre who simply juiced to get his contract. I agree completely. Beltre did little before his contract year and then exploded that year. Soriano has always been decent and has put better numbers than Beltre did in LA.
  16. The Cubs are a perfect fit for ARod. He could come here and not have to worry about the postseason :) :)
  17. Sirius is playing the Milan-Bayern match today.
  18. I don't think MLS will let him out of his contract but it would be cool to see 3 Americans on a premier league team. Imagine how Clint Dempsey feels about that... Isn't Demp's contract up after this year? If it is he's as good as gone. My best guess is that MLS will hold onto Adu until he's done with his contract.
  19. Some interesting gossip this morning on the BBC's transfer rumors page this morning. I don't think MLS will let him out of his contract but it would be cool to see 3 Americans on a premier league team.
  20. What you view as "Chicken Little", a lot of people view as their version of reality. We're horrid and I don't think we'll be much better next year with the FA market that's in front of us. No matter who the new manager is whether it be Dierker, Gonzalez, or Girardi, we'll still have the same fella in charge of making deals, and the same fella in charge signing the contract. A friend of mine asked why the Cubs minor league teams were so popular and well visited, and I explained to him that when you have no present, all you've got is the future to hold onto.
  21. I still say that a team with almost 100 years since a World Series win is the most pressure filled job in all of sports. Once the Cubs get past the century mark if they do, then all fans are going to get testy, not just those on a Cubs Message board.
  22. The Jays affiliation ended 4 years ago, and then we were the Cardinals for 2 years (they bought a Texas League team and moved them to Missouri) and we've had the Diamondbacks for 2 years as well. I think the decision to part was mutual between Tenneseee and Toronto. Toronto wanted their AA prospects closer to Toronto. I think the Smokies would have loved to have stayed with the Cardinals (not me though :( ), but they moved to Missouri. And that Jays affiliation was a LOOONG one. We got to see some great players come through Knoxville- Delgado, McGriff, Halladay, George Bell, and many many others. I didn't feel that amy of the last 4 years showed us much in terms of prospects passing through. Haren was pretty good, as was Molina, and who knew that Uggla would be the player he has this year? But, for the most part, I haven't been impressed with our last two affiliations. I loved the Jays simply due to the relationship and still am a fan even today. Admittedly, I didn't go to ANY games during the Cardinal years. I wouldn't give them a dime of my money. I went to see quite a few games with the Diamondbacks affiliation and got to see Uggs, Miguel Montero, Drew, and some of the other players.
  23. Good for Bobby Convey. Don't forget about Hannehman either :)
  24. Reading tied Manchester United yesterday 1-1. The dream season continues. How can anyone not be rooting for Reading to stay in the Prem? The tie moved Chelski to the top of the tables however :(
