  1. If he sues for libel then since he is a "public figure" he must prove actual malice. This is why most celebrities don't win libel cases because actual malice cannot be proven without a shadow of a doubt. It's much easier for a private individual to sue and win a libel case than it is a for a public figure. This case will go nowhere and Barry will lose.
  2. Lofton, Chris Lofton. The announcers didn't do their homework calling for CJ to get the ball, Lofton has hit more big shots all year than anyone else on the team. I'm glad to see hatred for Tennessee basketball again. It's been so long since they've done anything in basketball that most everyone else in the SEC felt sorry for them. Winthrop was a heck of a team. I can't see the Vols making it past the sweet sixteen if they get past Wichita State, simply due to the lack of size inside. This is great though. First win in the tourney in a long time.
  3. Is there a better time of year than right now?   The Cubs winning it all would be the only thing that's close to March Madness.
  4. Thanks for the info. I'll venture a guess that this is the last season for West Tennessee to be the Cubs AA affiliate. Just a guess
  5. When is the Cubs contract up with West Tennessee? Anyone know off the top of their heads?
  6. Cabrera in Yankee pinstripes makes a lot of sense. The question is what do they have to give the Fish; not much, I think. Maybe the Yankees could build them a stadium in exchange for Cabrera and Willis. 8-[ Very good post and probably not far from what Steinbrenner would do
  7. If Miggy becomes available, there's no untouchable name IMO.
  8. It has been ridiculous.
  9. No matter who wins, this has still been the best NC game in a long time.
  10. We've got a ballgame again.
  11. I say they will. They'll give it to Lendell again for two yards.
  12. Did your mother have any children that lived? Did you fall and hit your head after the 2003 NLCS? If not what explains what's been going on in your head since then? Have you ever had any players that "couldn't" catch the ball?
  13. This team the past three years is the best I've seen in 32 years of watching football. They're truly amazing. Patrick Turner got a lot of flack in Tenn. for skirting UT to go to USC, but who could blame him?
  14. I'd say it will be like the Caddy and Ronny Brown from Auburn. They'll both be first rounders and close picks as well.
  15. After this game I'd say that White won't be back for his senior season either.
  16. Great great Phish Song. It's no "Slave to the Traffic light" or Bathtub Gin, but good nonetheless.
  17. I'd guess that Baltimore's fans would turn on Angelos even more than now if he took an injury prone pitcher back in a deal for Tejada.
  18. Congrats Cobs, in my 30 years of fandom, you've let me down one way or another, and this keeps the streak alive!!!! Jacque "the Fanning Frenchman" Jones will be another in a long line of great Cobs
  19. I've seen O-Dog play in AA many times. Remember when he first came up and called Riccardi a "pimp" and got sent right back down?
  20. If they insist on Cano/Pie for Pierre who's a year away from free agency, they undoubtedly want half the team for Miggy. I don't see how a contender could afford him unless they would take loads of non plus players (like the Brewers pulled off with AZ). They don't have many "non plus" players left now
  21. A Sunday-go-to-meeting talk is a synonym for a "Come to Jesus" meeting. It's basically where everything is laid out on the table with no abandonment for thoughts, feelings, etc. People say what's on their mind with no apprehension. We've had a couple of these where I work.
  22. I'd have to ask them to throw in Dontrelle for that price, too. I wouldn't, it's Miguel Cabrera we're talking about here :)
  23. I think Cubs fans are a frustrated lot of people right now. A lot of us are frustrated with Baker, we're frustrated with Hendry, and we're frustrated to a point with MacPhail. What has brought about this frustation? Just look around the league. In the last two years, we've seen the Red Sox end their long drought without a World Series win and we've seen our cross town rivals end their long drought without a World Series as well. We've seen the Astros and Cardinals both make a World Series, while we've languished down in the division. We've gone from the cusp of greatness in 2003 to this now.. 2003 was probably the worst thing that could happen for Cubs fans. 2003 was the year that we lost the "lovable losers" tag and got the "contender" tag hung upon us and we've not been competitive since then. I'm tired of seeing spare parts signed just to make this a team. I'm tired of seeing second and third rate free agency signings to put this team together. I don't want to see Neifi Perez at short, or Jose Macias getting even one start. I can't honestly say that my frustration extends to the Tribune company (although it used to) because they've opened up the purse strings the last few years. I just want management to use common sense and put together a team that can win, not just put a team together for the sake of doing so. Hendry strikes me as being so "gunshy" in the offseason and completely opposite at the trading deadline. He won't make moves now, but chooses to wait for the trading deadline when overpayment becomes more obvious than now.
  24. Also, Common sense is not a synonym for Dusty Baker.
