  1. That's just not true...Kendall hit .295 in the month of June with a very solid OBP...there is still a reasonable chance of him "doing something good" this year.
  2. Thanks... So with the very small sample size of at bats with the Cubs he's seeing over 4 pitches per plate appearance (very good), and his BA/BIP is .071 (statistically that has to improve) .... I'm not ready to write him off just yet...
  3. Where can you find the line drive % and BABIP #s? I didn't see them on ESPN or on Baseball reference....am I missing something?
  4. If we gave up Hill or Marshall who fills out our rotation? Giving up a starter w/o getting one in return is a scary proposition to me.
  5. Not to derail this Hendry/Kendall bashing party....but hes only started 5 games guys...Pujols first fiave games with the birds this year he got 1 hit.......he's a 3-4 outting away from being the being solid.
  6. That's what made me so mad...not to get political, but its almost like listening to Ann Coulter moderate a presidental debate...I'm sure its fine if you're republican but as a dem you'd want to stab yourself in the ear.... it just seemed they went out of their way at EVERY opportunity to try and make Z look bad....
  7. My god....for anyone stuck in St. Louis I'm sure you can attest that listening to last nights game was just painful. Even winning I wanted to stab my ear with a Pencil. You could tell at the beginning of the game they had decided in a production meeting they were gonig to focus on Zambrano the entire game...anytime he smirked, shook his head, scratched himself, had a tranier look at his foot or did ANYTHING they had a camera on him and kept saying "he really needs to grow up" "he's not helping himself" "he's a hot head" "he goes to the beat of his own drum" (that one was for hustling a ground ball out)....just drove me nuts.... In contrast, Kip Wells was shaking his head, staring at the ump, frowning, standing with his hands on his hips....and he was "professional"....Tony and the entire Cards bench bitched and moan about every pitch and that's fine..... Thank God I'm going to the game tonight...I couldn't watch another one that they called.
  8. It's not necessarily that the Cubs are in the race, but more that StL isn't. It's hard to get up and excited to play a team that is going nowhere this year. I am sorry for what I'm about to do... Please do not let any pregnant ladies or people with heart conditions view this. I still have not watched the final at bat of that game...in my world it did not happen. Hate is not a strong enough word. I am sorry to do that to you all. But I've seen one too many comments about how they can't get up for this series. Those stupid fluky Cardinals won the freaking WS off an 83 win season. Those same fluky Cardinals are giving Cubs fans a lifetime of gloating based on their flawed and fluky team. Cardinals fans are laughing at Cubs fans constantly as they watch us get excited about our team thats 5 games over .500, while they are still hungover from their WS champaign. Hate the Cardinals. HATE!!! I still have not watched the final at bat of that game...in my world it did not happen. Hate is not a strong enough word.
  9. It's not necessarily that the Cubs are in the race, but more that StL isn't. It's hard to get up and excited to play a team that is going nowhere this year. Speak for yourself....these games are always 10X bigger than the White Sox games as far as I'm concerned...especially living in this town.
  10. i cant' get excited. it's more fun to play st. louis when the act of defeating them will most greatly upset cardinal nation. this year, it's just kicking them while they're down (not that there is anything wrong with that) I'm nervous...this is almost worse than being behind them...we're SUPPOSED to win these games...especially tonight...its like a 4-13 match up in the NCAA tourney...if you win, you're supposed to, if you lose you look bad....I just want to win the series...I would HATE, HATE, HATE if the cards beat us in a series and that had a measurable effect on our season...the fans here would love that almost as much as winning the WS last year.
  11. Hooters and Caleco's are also solid options...I may go to hooters...probably the most TVs of any place downtown....not to mention the...um...wings.
  12. Yes...I'm pretty sure that's where is started too....or its sure where I meant for it to be...i think it may have been moved and I have no clue why.
  13. I broke down in the middle of last week's winning streak euphoria and procured tix for all three games. They better not get swept now! Oddly, I'll then be there on Saturday, rooting on the Cards against the Brewers. :? Breaking out the Marquis jersey shirt Thurs night? Oh hell yeah...2nd row of the LF Bleachers, on Wednesday night...if he's out there it'd be cool as hell if I could get him to sign it...Thursday I'm up stairs and we're bringing the kids...2 boys, under the age of 3....that ought to be fun...the older one will watch but I'm thinking Mom will have to take them to the kids area in the 3rd or 4th. I've really thought hard about picking up a ticket for tomorrow too...I want to see Z pitch. I don't know if you'll know the answer to this, but I don't... I'm going to be down around the ballpark around lunch tomorrow, what are the chances of me walking up to the box office and picking up a pair of tickets? Do the Cards release more tickets the day of the game? Yeah...the First pitch program is that the first 150 people at the gate at 9:00 a.m. can get 2 tickets a piece for $11 total...its a great deal if you can get it but you've got to be there...... OTherwise there are always scalpers outside of the Hilton and in Keener Plaza...they may be more reasonable considering the current state of the birds....the people here in STL are pretty down on the team right now.
  14. Ah...wasn't aware of the extension...yeah, considering his production it'd take a ton to get him.
  15. Griffey AND Harang. I just thought about that last night as he went TEN Strong innings against the brewers.... He's 5 years in so I'm not sure how much longer hes under control, but I think I'd go something like Murton, Pie, Gallagher, and Veal. With the numbers he's putting up this year and likely being under control for a little while it'd really give us a shot this year.
  16. I'm going to Wednesday and Thursday's games...Got the wife with me on Wednesday and the whole family on Thursday...I'll be wearing a Chicago Marquis jersey on Thursday...Will likely be getting a beer somewhere at a bar before hand on Wednesday if anyone is interested...
  17. if he's not already, when does Tejada get of the IR...will it be before the deadline?
  18. While not the bleachers, I've taken my boys 3 and 1, to Wrigley, Busch, and Turner (Turner last year when my youngest was like 5 weeks old)...we do fine...my wife gets up with them when the 3rd 4th inning comes by and they go explore...at the new parks with the kids places it works out great...again...that's not wrigley bleachers, but, especially at night, if your 10 month old is anything like mine were s/he'll fall asleep in the 5th and you'll be fine.

  20. He just wasn't any good...that's all right?
  21. I'm going to games 2 and 3 of this series....sure would be nice to have a series win wrapped up by Wednesday night.
  22. Oh that would be nice....I really like the idea of the Cubs coming into town and taking care of business in STL (at least 2/3) and then for the first time, likely in my entire life, I will be rooting very hard for STL to sweep a 4 game series....it won't happen, but if we could take the lead in either the division or the WC by Sunday...that would be nice.
  23. Yeah, all that pissing and moaning I did in April and May about regretting that Charter got EI cuz I didn't want to watch anyway? Nevermind. Watched nearly every pitch of the MIL game. And I concur with the poster who talked about their homer announcers. Seems to me very recently they had that young group of guys that was very funny, entertaining, etc. Now they seem to have their very own old coot color guy, a la Al Hrabosky. Terrible. Yeah...still easily the best $$ I've spent this year....I watch parts of the Cubs, Cards, Brewers, Braves, Padres, Dodgers, Arizona and Mets game almost every night....its like crack.
  24. Well...we're only one game out of the Wild Card (in the loss column...the only one that counts)! And STL has fallen further back...and we're 2.5 out of actual first place...I'd like to go ahead and take the WC lead so we can then start hearing the "if the season were to end today" stuff....and then worry about overtaking the Brewers....I'd LOVE for the Brewers to win the WC because that means we win the division AND likely have a little cushion...
