    Derrek Lee and Burnitz can take a walk, Neifi Perez can't. Walks don't count as an at-bat. I bet that there are a few more Cubs with more plate appearances then Neifi.

    Hendry should have moved the vets when he had a chance. I'm curious, if Perez and Macias are so valuable why not see what worth they have in the open market? Maybe they can save another team from despair like they did the Cubs. I agree that Wood should get the surgery done ASAP so he will be ready for 2006. Interesting that you say that. I have read rumblings from different GMs around the league regarding moving the deadline back to Sept. 1st. The thought being there are still a lot of teams in the race at the current deadline, so there aren't many sellers. Meh. Don't push the deadline. Eliminate the wild card. Go to four divisions of four teams. Easier scheduling. You actually have to "win" something to reach the playoffs. The AL should add two teams to get to 16 and doing the same thing. I know, baseball revenues, blah, blah, blah. Put the extra teams in NY and LA and they'd do fine. And hopefully, they'd take enough revenues from the other teams there that it would level the playing field a bit. the New York Knights - I like it.

    Pie's been on the DL for nearly two months now. I'd settle for Cedeno getting some playing time. As for the "incident," Dusty didn't lie on the spot. The official word of lower back pain was already given in the press box the half-inning before the interview. Whether or not that's a lie remains to be seen. Personally, I don't care much. I wouldn't mind an OF of Murton, Lawton, and Greenberg. Can Cedeno play 2B (or Nomar)?

    I think a spot would have to be cleared on the 40 man to keep him out of the rule 5 draft

    A shot at what, an everyday ML player? He sure doesn't look like one to me. I see him and I see Doug Dascenzo, without the crafty mound presence. I see Adam Greenberg and I see my paperboy. He looks like he should still be in high school. Adam Greenberg has been a consistently excellent performer througout his college baseball (ACC rookie of the year, All ACC, first team All-american, etc....) and minor league career. I have a feeling he will someday remind us of a david ecstein in the outfield. Tremendously scrappy player that should make an excellent fourth outfielder with defense, speed, and a good eye, but little to no power. Greenberg has the potential to be an everyday CF/leadoff. He's a cheap option for next year and he will be more productive than Corey in the leadoff spot.
