  1. At least they're following that up with a closeup of Erin Andrews. :)
  2. I like Ronny bunting, but it depends on the other team's personel.
  3. That's been the case so far this year but it has yet to happen, save maybe the STL game.
  4. 5 I believe. Good god. Someone needs to tell Z he doesn't need to throw 95-906 miles an our and nip at the corners with his off-speed stuff to get guys out. I miss the days when opposing hitters were just pounding it into the ground.
  5. How many HRs has Z given up already this year.
  6. he left it over the middle of the plate. it was not a good pitch, at all. It was out over the plate, but it was down. I've seen Z get away with a lot worse.
  7. Apparently Z doesn't like/doesn't know how to throw his sinker any more. You could see it a little bit last year, but even moreso this year.
  8. I wasn't even sure he was AAA material.
  9. If Tony was so worried about the integrity of the game he wouldn't have let Kline and Tavares put pinetar on the bill of their caps. Talk about ridiulous.
  10. I honestly can't figure out how Ronny's managed to play his entire (presumably) minor league career without someone working with him to change that horrible arm slot. Outside of 2nd base, it seems fielders who have the same sidearm throwing style (along with Aram) are prone to erroneus throws. It's probably not that simple, but I feel if he keeps his elbow up he'll be okay. But if it keeps dropping...well, may Dlee's recovery be all the more expediated.
  11. Good lineup Raw. It's probably the best lineup we could reasonably hope for with baker at the helm. If only he'd think about batting Jones 8th. Yeah, I like that. You have to assume Perez will get some starts at second. When that happens: Pierre Murton Walker ARAM Barrett Jones Cedeno Perez That works too, although I'd like to see Cedeno in the 2 whole against the leagues weaker fielding teams. Pierre and Ronny could really reak some havoc at the top of the lineup.
  12. As long as Saiko (spelling?) isn't on the mound. :P
  13. I think they can. This team is MUCH better than last years and only figures to get better once guys get off the DL (as long as players like Lee aren't taking their place). Don't get me wrong, I'm not predicting the Cubs are going to be fantastic, but I don't think it's out of the question. The biggest key may be whether or not Hairston gets the majority of the starts, and if Cedeno/Aram can make decent throws to first. In addition, Aramis also has to start hitting as he has the last 2 years, instead of what has occurred in these first few weeks. Granted, it's going to be a lot tougher to stay above water but I don't think its impossible. I don't know about the rest of you guys but I don't quite get the same "oh we're f***ed" feeling every time this team is down, or every time our bullpen trots on the field. There's just something about this team which makes them appear more resiliant than in years past. Who knows? I may be completely off the mark here, but we should have a pretty good idea of this team's post-Lee capabilites after the next couple of weeks.
  14. Spot on. Miggy's older, more expensive, and might not even provide that much of an upgrade (especially to constitute the salary increase). Not to mention, Miggy WOULDN'T be replacing Lee, he'd be replacing Cedeno. IMO, there aren't a whole lot of trades which make long term, or even short term sense for this ballclub. Ronny's playing well, Murton has been okay to pretty good, Pierre's been okay and we know he's not going anywhere, we're stuck with Jaques, Barrett and Aram are the 2 other cornerstones of the offense, and we have a glut of capable 2nd basemen. So where can we make a realistic change? Without sacrificing the future of this franchise their's nary a trade to be made. It sucks, but we're pretty much stuck with what we got. Losing Derek is HUGE, but if Hairston gets (which with Dusty is the key) the majority of playing time and doesn't fall on his face, and ARam starts to produce, I don't think this team will be as screwed as many people think. However the margin of error is definately narrower.
  15. Good lineup Raw. It's probably the best lineup we could reasonably hope for with baker at the helm. If only he'd think about batting Jones 8th.
  16. Please no. I think we have 5 SPs right now who would be better than Zito (in Wrigley) next year. Of course, they'd all have to be healthy (a BIG if).
  17. That's the second best thing to happen today. Outside of it being 85 here in Iowa
  18. If 8 runs wasn't enough. If 4 walks wasn't enough.
  19. You better watch what you say about Dusty's BOOOiIIIII. I hear has has Darren monitor the game threads. :)
  20. He struck out Pujols. Dusty's elevated him to God status.
  21. Turn off the TV then. Geez. He's got a point. With this lineup the comeback chances are less than zero. But being that we're all Cub fans we're too stupid to turn off the tv. I thought you'd know that by now Meat?? Name your cliche. Never give up. Never surrender. Give up after you're dead. blah blah blah. when the game's over, i'll give up hope on this game. regardless, we'll all be here tomorrow. :D How to be a Cub fan: Lesson #1 - You can never ever, learn from the Cub's futility. If you can learn from it...well...you're not a Cub fan
  22. Our pen better get this one out of there system.
  23. With this organization we'll never get the truth. I'm not expecting anything until I see him on the field.
