  1. Suicide hotlines better be extra staffed tonight. No need to be crude about it. What is happening to the Brewers seems a lot like what happened to the Cubs in 2004. Except there were a lot more injuries to blame for us that year. Also, the Cubs were locked neck-and-neck in the chase all year and never really had a comfortable lead at any one point -- unlike the Brewers.
  2. what did Drayton Lane do? With Hurricane Ike bearing down on Houston, he could have done the smart thing and arranged to have the series played at a truly neutral location instead of stubbornly waiting in vain to try and squeeze a couple of games in Houston when there was no way that was going to happen.
  3. Welcome back offense, we've missed you.
  4. These Astros announcers will not shut up about the unfairness of having to play in Milwaukee, making snarky comments left and right. They can thank Drayton McLane for that.
  5. This is wrong. The Brewers have been selling out for a while now. Selling out and being full are 2 very different things. Do you really think Miller Park isn't packed most days, at least before the recent slide? This isn't a case like the 2006 Cubs where they sold a ton of tickets, the team ended up sucking so no fans wanted to go out there for the last month or so. I remember earlier this year when MIL was 8.5 GB and they still were having sellouts. Yeah, they average over 37,000 a game.
  6. Z's injury sabbatical might have been the best thing that could have happened to the Cubs.
  7. The Brewers have to be demoralized...I don't see them winning tonight. Put a fork in Ned Yost.
  8. Bud and company still screwed the pooch on this one. If they had been more proactive, they could have could gotten all three games in at a true neutral site. Instead, they twittled their thumbs and waited until the last minute when all of this could have been avoided. I just hope the Astros and their fans don't whine too much. It was their owner who got them into this mess while Bud Selig let it happen.
  9. You're right. Kerry should have forgone the GIDP and went with back to back K's. It's just as much on Kerry as it is Cedeno. No excuse walking Valentin when you get ahead of him 1-2.
  10. They need to turn him into a pitcher. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/c/cb/Mordecai_Brown_3_fingers.JPG/800px-Mordecai_Brown_3_fingers.JPG
  11. Frackin' Hannah Montana.
  12. You've got to be kidding me.
  13. They aren't going to score here, are they?
  14. So which Brewer hits the walk-off?
  15. On the bright side, the Cubs now have the best record in MLB.
  16. Joe Maddon has lost his mind.
  17. If the shoe was on the other foot, Hawk would be throwing a temper tantrum.
  18. What is it with Pierzynski and getting gift calls?
  19. McClouth on second, two out. Come on, Ryan Doumit.
  20. I heart Nate McClouth...when he's not playing against the Cubs.
  21. Luis Rivas singles to lead off the 9th for Pitt. ...and he steals second. Tying run in scoring position.
  22. Maybe Ned Yost will lose his mind and bring in Eric Gagne.
  23. That's a story I don't know, what happened? From Wikipedia... Earlier in the game, Marichal had knocked down Dodgers Maury Wills and Ron Fairly with brushback pitches. When Marichal came up to bat against Sandy Koufax in the third inning, Koufax wouldn't retaliate, but his catcher, Roseboro, apparently wanted to. Roseboro returned Koufax's pitches dangerously close to Marichal's face. Then, the future Hall-of-Famer hit Roseboro over the head with his bat twice, opening a two-inch gash that sent blood flowing down the catcher's face that would require 14 stitches. The Giants and the Dodgers, who nurture a heated rivalry with each other dating back to their days together in the New York market, and who were both strong contenders for the 1965 National League pennant, cleared their respective benches and began a 14-minute brawl on the field before Koufax, Giants captain Willie Mays and other peacemakers restored order.
